I see you're a headline reader. The course was entitled race and gender ideologies. It was about today's ideologies with Plato inserted. The course was not about Plato. The professor inserted Plato to get the desired publicity. It's about on par to a leftist that the guy could talk about Plato for a week in a 15 week course and they are banning Plato.

You were probably not a fan of the women's and gender major being eliminated. The department costs us way more money than it's worth because there are hardly any students in it. I think the university is being nice keeping the professors when they could as easily let them go. They are probably going to teach in a different department.

What you call elite we recognize as arrogant, condescending, and not aligned with the mainstream values of Texas citizens who pay taxes to fund the university, and also not aligned with the majority of alumni.

I suppose that's why Victor Davis Hansen was touting A&M in his podcast (in addition to Georgia Tech) as being in the beginning stages of overtaking Ivy Leagues for a majority of highly qualified students.

The evidence shows the opposite of what you and Shifty are opining about. Stop posting your opinions and post facts about enrollment and "brain drain."

What has actually kept A&M from being MORE competitive with schools like Georgia Tech from a perception standpoint is things like vision 2020 where we are more interested in enrollment than performance. A&Ms move away from meritocratic enrollment toward a more demographically representative census has been a "brain drain" because of it's lack of prirority in high level achievement in enrollment opting instead for #'s.

So no more Gender Studies or Sustainability Majors.

How will A&M ever recover?

I would tell John Hagler to get out of Texas if he doesn't like it since A&M is only reluctantly doing what the legislature mandated. But Hagler doesn't even live in Texas, so he can kindly shut the **** up.

This is none of his business and he has no say in the affairs of our state.

A&M is not a liberal arts university. Our purpose is in the initials in our name. If someone is looking for that type of education, there is another state univetsity not too far West.

We are a land, space, and sea grant university that should be laser focused on science, technology, and engineering. Dropping curriculum that doesn't align with those goals doesn't make A&M 'MAGA', it makes us what we are supposed to be, a leading research university.
