Nope - still just shows links instead of photos.

I tried to post a pic of a Bull Snake (aka Gopher Snake), that was desperately trying to convince me it was a rattlesnake, in New Mexico last week. TexAgs said I had to subscribe to post images.

So, because I am a tightwad, ya'll will just have to take my word for it when I say it was really cool.

can't non subscribers still upload pics on a hosting site or app like imgur and post the .img link here?

Freely admit that I'll do a quick geographical sanity check for a lot of my ID's. I've got a good idea about most, but it's a great way to check yourself.

Yes, but I can only ever get it to work on my computer, not on my phone.

OK, thanks. Yeah, "my" hognose was eating a burrow toad, then he slithered off and flared his neck like a cobra. He lives in a box next to the house, apparently.

Not a snake, but reptile related
My best friend in Beaumont sent these from his hike around Cattail marsh today...

We had an alligator at one of the zoos I worked at eat a huge snapping turtle that had been put in the exhibit. I was doing an education program at the time - the kids didn't want to leave, of course.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

I'm sure that was awesome & awkward at the same time...
My wife saw the pics & said poor turtle...
But ya don't get that big by going hungry...

I walked up on one eating a hog at the aransas wildlife refuge a few years back. You could hear the bones snapping like twigs. Incredible to witness.

Really awesome, not awkward at all. Parents weren't thrilled; kids were.

As I was mowing I spooked a snake that looked like a fat ribbon snake.
It was probably 18" long, the primary color was gray.
What caught my attention was a bright blue stripe running along its body.
This is in Grimes County.

Internet searches bring up a Texas garter snake as the closest match.

Any suggestions for what kind of snake it could be?

12f mane posted some examples of western ribbonsnakes ealier this year (https://texags.com/forums/34/topics/3590199/replies/71988653 ). As he said, the eastern Texas ones often have blue stripes.

Ribbon snake was my first inclination. On my property I have never seen one with a blue stripe.
Thanks.

My little helper wasn't with me to get this rat out of a neighbor's chicken coop, but she helped with the release.

On a run saw a few water snakes that were too quick for a picture but did come across a garter snake, rat snake (sorry I was running and took it when I was), large skink (I think), and a tail, yes just a squirrels tail. My assumption is one of the hawks, bobcats, or coyotes that frequent the area got a snack.

One of my students used to carry a squirrel tail in his wallet when I was a teacher. Rural East Tennessee.

If you knew the kid, you weren't really that surprised.

This is a really cool photo from beginning of thread. My dad said you could always tell the copperheads by the Hershey's kisses on their sides. Good example here.

Yep, good indicator for anywhere east of a line from Dallas, College Station, and El Campo. West of there the lines straighten out and you lose the kisses.
