I was just watching some guy talking about beer on social media, and he said Texas (not Houston specifically) ranked 48th in the number of breweries per capita. That kind of surprises me.

Their replies to the comments are a little curious. "I thought they were doing well." "So did we"
I went when it was Shepherd Park, and it just seems like a tight space for anything other than takeout.Big Walt Law Firm said:PetroPhi said:

This one is tough to see, being a regular there. Last day open is July 5th, if you're in the area I highly recommend grabbing a cali burrito before they close. Great food and even better people.
That location just can't hold a tenant.
I was wondering the same thing and noticed that the 'coming soon' El Tiempo sign has been taken down.Chewy said:
Interesting on Drift. Sounds like a concept change.
Anyone seen anything on the El Tiempo on 20th? Did some Google searching and can't find anything of substance.
Sounds like it might have been a joint venture between the Cle Group and El Tiempo and stalled out.
How long have you been gone? Drift has been there at least 5 years, IIRC it was one of the first big bars to open in the 19th/20th street bar boom or whatever you want to call it.cajunaggie08 said:
I know I'm getting old when I don't recognize the name of any of the bars in my old neighborhood. Let alone those bars are now closing.

Wow, then you definitely wouldn't recognize the area. The Boot was probably still Shady Tavern back then.cajunaggie08 said:Moved away to suburbia in 2013TXAG 05 said:How long have you been gone? Yep, it was the first patio bar to go up after McIntyre's.TXAG 05 said:How long have you been gone? Drift has been there at least 5 years, IIRC it was one of the first big bars to open in the 19th/20th street bar boom or whatever you want to call it.cajunaggie08 said:

I know it has been Shady Acres since before covid, so 6-7 years at least. Don't remember it being anything before that.Chewy said:
How long has Shady Acres Saloon been around and what was it before?
Was it just a regular old house? Seems like it's been there forever but I don't remember it until everything else came around.
I used to love that place. It was falling apart, but the food was always solid for what it was. It was up there with Fu's Garden imo.cajunaggie08 said:
haha yup. That one changed not too long after moving away. I used to get chinese food from Golden Cafe. Crazy to think that is now a place people choose to hang out.
First Yelp review of The Boot was on Mar 31, 2014.TXAG 05 said:I know it has been Shady Acres since before covid, so 6-7 years at least. Don't remember it being anything before that.Chewy said:

One of the owner partners mentioned in that article is a friend of mine. He's been very committed to getting everything ready so they can open early next year.
