The fact that a normal "cheap" restaurant has become so expensive problem doesnt help with the high end places as well.

No joke, attended a wedding downtown this weekend where the wedding party was all from out of state.

The bride wanted to go out and enjoy the vibes of some fun bars, especially given it was a rodeo night expecting many to be out continuing to party.

Took a Fetii to Deans on Main Street…..wooooof is it way different than I remember. Deans is now a hookah bar?

Yeah downtown crowd has changed since covid. A shame too because it was a good time on main and market square leading up to covid. Houston Watch Co and One armed scissor is all I will go too and usually just during HH now.

Star Sailor was weird from the outset. Seemed like a bar run as a hobby. Why cant we have anything nice in Timbergrove. Lol

I'd be surprised, but I wasn't overly impressed with their Pearland location when I visited. Their Alvin location is pretty good though.

It was really good...and they had a great location. But they couldn't ever seem to really get their **** together service/timing wise. And their rent is super high. Tough biz.

Grace was great but not sure anything is going to make it there with the high lease rate.

Sonoma seemed to do pretty well there but when they couldn't justify the new lease rate, it makes you wonder who can.

That's a good question but the people that own Cantina own the building so they've got an added benefit.

We quit going a couple years ago but it was never crowded when we did.

Maybe they use it to write off gains or launder money.

Which is totally acceptable in my book.

Yes, and they didn't know their market. You put a pizza place smackdab in the middle of an affluent, walkable family neighborhood. If you have white table cloths, no kids menu, and your pizza takes 30+ minutes to make, it was not researched very well.

Gypsy Poet, about 1 minute up the street, has no problem with service and usually has a line out the door of people waiting to get in.

The concept can work, it was just poorly done.
