Just saw that the Preslee's people are going to take over the old Petrol Station building.

Not a bad idea, deliver a good burger, beer at a decent price, and a playground.

I haven't been a fan of Pressley's food the couple of times I went.

Yes, I know, I am an outlier. I'm used to it.

Their burgers at Pipers were really good, hopefully they carry that over to this place.

The burgers at Presley's were always good. Wish they'd bring back the $3 beers on Mondays.

I know Andrew well and have worked with him on another concept before. He has done a few successful concepts in the past and honestly has a great vision here.

I'd relate it to the old Texadelphila on Westheimer (now it's the bar Kamp). Was located close to family neighborhoods where kids and parents could go on weekends after little league games. Kids could play and it wasn't discouraged and parents could enjoy their time there.

Andrew has long liked Preslee's (similar in concept) but wanted a place that was a bit more family friendly and served really great food.

Andrew and Paige are great parents and encourage their kids to be active and outside. I think you will see this safely delivered in their Long Weekend concept.

Agreed. They never evolved though.

Loved going there but the options outside of hot dogs was uninspiring. Hard to take groups there unless you confirm everybody wants a hot dog.

Will definitely miss that bread though, yum.

I really wanted to like Good Dog when I lived over there. But the 2 times I went were very underwhelming. Never saw big crowds either.

No it isn't. Not at all. Every place that has closed down has had a new tenant within 3mos

Mapojeong says hello. Closed in November and no visible activity at the building since.

Landlord is the tenant. He's doing another concept. He owns Ready Room also and closed them because he intends to use both buildings

Tongue in cheek - there'll be new stuff and it'll probably just move the price point north.

If that is the case why is it being offered for lease?

And the landlord isn't the (former) tenant. Landlord is Bryan Danna. Unless Ken is looking to sublease.

My bad. Perhaps someting changed. The group that was operating Ready Room had told me they were asked to wrap it up because the landlord needed both buildings for a new concept.

Jun and Baso are both over 2 years old.

Ema is great though, but I'm not one to stand in a line for food.

The line hasn't been more than 5-6 deep the last few times I've gone (usually Friday lunch or Saturday brunch time). Excellent spot

What was the other fried chicken place just west of there over on Durham called? Is it closed yet?

I don't know what drives anyone to get involved with the restaurant industry. Seems like a nightmare. Such low odds of lasting success.

Not west, but do you mean Mico's Hot Chicken?

If so, they actually moved into a space right next to the HEB at Shephard and 24th. Their sammich is pretty damn good.

I guess $18 chicken sandwiches aren't a big desire when the place across the street is $7 and served in 1/2 the time

Maybe so, I believe it was on Durham around 14th street or something like that? I thought that was pretty much west of 11th and Shepherd? Well, slightly NW I guess if we want to get technical.

Place was hoppin when I drove by on a nice day several years ago.

EDIT: I think the place I saw was called "Balls Out" or something like that...Mas just reminded me
