Howdy! I feel completely blessed to have the ability and knowledge to restore dream
vehicles for my customers, allowing me to see the original craftsmanship from around
the world.
For instance, only 797 Italian Iso Rivolta GT's were made from 1962 to 1970. Classic
Collision and Restoration has had the immense pleasure of restoring cars #007, #230,
and we're currently working on #615. We restored #007, a prototype with many
differences from the subsequent Iso's. Being a prototype made it much more difficult
because the company, Renzo Rivolta's "Iso Autoveicoli", incorporated parts from Ferrari,
Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, and many other manufacturers into their cars. The drivetrains for
the Rivolta GT's were Chevrolet Corvette 327's. These cars were all hand-built and
ended up very rusty. All three Iso's that we have worked on required tons of metal work
to rebuild the bodies.
Secondly, this Shelby Cobra is a genuine 1965 CSX with a 427 engine (pictures
below). The owner knew Carroll Shelby, who signed and rode with him in this car. My
wife remembers looking at the owner's collection of several amazing original Shelby
Cobras, and she remembers seeing a hat on a front seat that looked a lot like Shelby's
flat-brimmed hat. The owner said to her, "Yes, Shelby gave that to me!"
Lastly, I have never been so proud to be included in a project as this one, 30 years
ago…
In 1937, the Richmond, Texas, fire department purchased a 1937 Dodge Fire Truck for
$4,236 from Buffalo Fire Apparatus, based in Buffalo, NY. This pumper was delivered on
September 14, 1937, and was quickly recognized as No. 2. The new vehicle was
equipped with a 100-gallon booster tank. In 1995, I helped restore it with the owner of
"Dunright by Chris" in Richmond, Texas. We stripped it down to the bare chassis and
restored it back to new condition. This is one of the projects that led me to open my own
business, Classic Collision and Restoration, in Bryan, TX.
