Definitely could have contributed. I have always felt like he was just a bit overrated though.
Overrated or not, he was our best player each of the last 2 seasons. There is definitely a direct correlation between his poor form this year and the teams drop off
I'm also not sure where you'd go to replace not only his offensive production (obviously this needs to be 10x better than this year) but his pressing and his motor. It would be an incredibly short list

Respectfully, I completely disagree. He was run into the ground and caught an injury. As did damn near everyone else playing in front of him. Gotta see how he starts next season before you bench a talent like him.

He had a good season. He's not perfect and he's not the answer for every game and game state but I'd like to see him come back for another year. I don't know if you give him 2 years or try to get a 1+1 year mutual option or something along those lines

If Zubi can do what those videos suggest (be more of a defensive single pivot and allow the CMs & FBs a bit more offensive freedom) I'd like to see us use Havertz as a sub (or rotational starter) for MO or Rice at times and shift into a 4-4-2 with Havertz as a SS.....

- He has been injured more often than not over the last 2 years and then he "miraculously" stays healthy in a contract year
- His legs are gone and he's lazy. You can watch highlights of opponent goals where he never even makes it into the box until the ball is in the back of the net
- He consistently turns the ball over when pressed. He looked better in stretches this season as many teams stopped pressing us high, but as soon as a team did (PSG), he was absolutely exposed
I get that we can't let both he and Jorginho go without having backup for Zubimendi, but I'd much rather give MLS a shot at 6 rather than march Partey out there again
IF we do sign him for another year, I eagerly anticipate his becoming injured at the beginning of the season only to make a miraculous recovery in time for AFCON

New kit day
You have very valid concerns. Main reason I am ok with the move (specifically at 1+1) is that it helps ease the transition for Zubi and keeps us from needed to buy an additional player this summer and completely replacing the depth chart for a very key position.
Without digging into the rest of it, MLS is our clear preferred left back. His two backups are our likely preferred starting right back and a player who was injured multiple times this season.Quote:

Let's assume Zubimendi stays healthy and plays really well. Even then, we will want to give MLS time off in the same cup games and same EPL games and same game states as Zubimendi.
