Its not just Everton. The refs this season continue to be atrocious, especially when it comes to dangerous play. They've done it all season with wild challenges and then VAR doesn't step in either. They'll send players off for kicking the ball away, but you can tackle like that and easily get away with it.Tksymm7 said:

No doubt. I was just caught up in Mac Allister almost getting his leg taken off. I think the referees in the EPL are terrible at their job, but perhaps my biggest gripe of all is that the VAR referees are completely disconnected from the main referee and the game.
Tarkowski should have seen red and Pickford should have seen yellow, at the very least. Pickford is just such a despicable person, easily tops the list of my 5 most hated players in the PL. Him and Tarkowski are made for each other.

Liverpool look like they haven't tactically gotten the game right. Fulham just causing all kinds of problems in simple situations.

I truly just do not get Slot from a lineup management perspective
First 15 minutes of the game we played them level, but after Macca scored the activity level dropped and the entire back line pooped the bed for the next half hour.
It was obvious we needed subs at halftime, but Slot declined the option and ended up making those subs 8 minutes later in the second half. If he brings in lucho and Harvey at the half I think we level it. We were hammering them at the end, and that extra 8 minutes would have been enough to crack them.
Despite the backline being the obvious culprit, the real issue was team effort throughout the pitch (which Arne often discusses). The gakpo/salah wing combo was a disaster today. Neither really put in any noticeable work. Szobo was also invisible until he just started playing poor/wild passes. One could argue that over use and fatigue could be a cause, but I think Arne's lack of rotation creates complacency with our starters. Mo and Szobo should feel the pressure of Elliot and Chiesa, instead they are secure in knowing they will always start and likely play >70 minutes. If he wants more effort, he needs to encourage competition by rewarding some of our other really good players with starts.
I think Arne has been a really good manager for us this year, and you can't expect him to be brilliant from day 1 in a new league; however, there are obvious places where he can learn and adjust. Hopefully we see that sooner rather than later.

Konate and VVD have had absolute SHOCKERS recently. Obviously when that's the case you're going to have tough outings. Throw on top that Robo, Gravenberch and Szbo were all equally as awful you get today's result. Last thing I'll add is that Kelleher is not a great goalkeeper at the moment and a liability back there.

Kelleher was a big problem today. Ali would have saved at least one of those, but that wasn't the real issue. Our ability to play out of the back is the main tool we use to control the game and it largely rests on our GKs passing and decision making skills. With Ali, it's like having a second VVD on the field. His distribution, ability to read the game and confidence on the ball are truly elite. Kelleher does his best to imitate Ali but he gets it wrong a lot. Other teams can easily see that and they press high against us. At the same time, our backline refuses to adjust and attempts to treat him as though he is Ali. Where Ali would spray the ball wide to a full back in space, Kelleher tries to slow the game down and work the ball between the CBs. Unfortunately the fullbacks kept leaking out into the wings, isolating our CBs/GK without clear options. The end of the first half was filled with poor play out of the back. Everything got a little better when we pushed Grav back to CB so that he could ease the pressure. But again, it took too long for Slot to fix the problem.
I think we can all agree that the Curtis Jones RB experience has been a total disaster. Give me Quansah or a one-legged Bradley.

Got back yesterday, and we had a blast (1/2 week in Liverpool, 1/2 in London). Weather all week was mid 60s and sunny....not a drop of rain all week (one day in London it was even over 70 degrees ...just unreal). Direct flights to Heathrow and back from Raleigh NC and Heathrow was a breeze in and out. Took the tube to Paddington/Euston Square/Station and then train to Liverpool (2.5 hrs)...super easy and nice. Toured Anfield that day (pics above...we were tired from long night flight but a great way to keep busy and stay awake) and toured Liverpool city the next day and half before the game.YNWA.2013 said:

City was awesome and the people even better. Beyond friendly and helpful. Set up Taxi service for before and after game (used Taxi One and highly recommend). Got there around 2.5 hrs before game (Hospitality ticket package in the Code Lounge). Got front row on the street to watch the team busses come in and then went to our seats/lounge to watch warm ups and get food.
Atmosphere was awesome and rocking the moment the teams walked out and throughout. We were near the Everton away area and the yelling back and forth from both sides was intense as you would expect. Have some great videos of the atmosphere and You'll Never Walk Alone (goosebumps) but the phone speakers can't pick up how loud it was. When Jota scored the place absolutely shook and went nuts and the people behind us hugged us.Just an awesome experience ...Liverpool FC just permeates that whole city and people. Again, just an amazing experience all around from talking to the cab drivers, sharing a cab after the game with a dad and his young son who flew in from Ireland and on and on.
Took the train back to London the next morning and had a blast there as well.

I thought Jones was fine against Everton, but got absolutely taken to the wood shed against Fulham. Bradley without a doubt starts if healthy enough. We need Jones in midfield too. Szbo has been an atrocity for a while now and needs to sit.

Salah officially done. Staying through the end of the 2027 season. And VVD right behind him. This is exactly what needed to happen and for the right amount of time. Make them both two of the highest paid players in the EPL, probably a nice signing bonus, and let's finish this freaking season off.

I don't understand this team at all. It's like at the 55 minute mark every game that the midfield just quits and falls off.

Ridiculous . Just got dominated in the 2nd half. Definitely limping to the finish line.
This team needs reinforcements in the worst way this summer. It's just so stale.
