Love seeing people hate on us and saying we have just been lucky.

Lucky we got penalties for fouls in the box.

Lucky we play teams when we play them

Lucky we've got PGMOL in our pocket.

Lucky our goalkeeper is our goalkeeper.

Lucky Mo Salah plays for Liverpool.

Lucky Klopp left a good squad.

Lucky City have shat the bed and aren't in the title race this season

Am I missing anything?

Some call it luck, I call it winning the mf'ing league!

For some actual discussion though, winning this league takes luck. It takes breaks all along the way. Some years there's not a ton of luck (hello Man City dominating most years), but in others you have to have a lot.

The Klopp era saw us go over 90 league points three times with only one title. We earned some luck if you ask me!

PSG and Liverpool are the two best teams in this tournament. You can't change my mind.

Yep. This should be no worse than a semifinal. Barcelona up there too imo.

So TAA and Konate off hurt. And Gakpo still looks gimpy.

That would be my top without a doubt. Maybe Real Madrid because of their history, but they don't seem like the same team this season. Still good though.

Welp. Nothing to be too upset about. PSG are really, really freaking good.

Yep. PSG well deserved winners…had our chances to steal it but couldn't.

Let me rephrase….im disappointed we lost. That was a very 50/50 game for a large stretch that we could've won, and it stinks to be out of the champions league this early. I'm disappointed that that was a semi-final/final quality game that we got in the group of 16, and on top of that I think PSG are a very very touch matchup for us.

I'm not upset though because PSG are awesome right now and could win the whole competition. They deserved to win over two legs. I'm also hoping that Liverpools front office sees how exhausted this team is and what beat us, and goes out this summer and gets some fresh bodies.

Yep. Format screwed the tournament this year.

Bummed about going out on penalties but we had chances to win it in regulation and just couldn't finished. Stealing a goal in Paris but returning the favor by serving theirs up on a platter today too.

Hope our injuries aren't too bad and we're ready to go on Sunday.

Slot said it doesn't look good for TAA but Konate seems to just be fatigue. So no Bradley, Gomez, or TAA in the back now.

Bradley should be back sooner than later (not this week though, obviously). I wonder if slot will give one of the kids a go at RB.

It'll be Quansah at RB. Konate plays unless he is deemed not fit and then I expect Endo to slot (pun intended) in there to partner VvD. Tsimikas might start over Robbo since he just played the full 120, probably a coin flip there. I would then expect our midfield and front line to remain unchanged. (Although I would start Jones and then let Szobozlai come in and run havoc for the last 20, but that's just me.)

Have to shake off the disappointing CL exit and focus on winning a trophy on Sunday. A domestic double would still be an amazing season! I know our expectations have changed throughout the season, but if you had asked us in August if you would take a Carabao Cup and PL title, we all would have jumped at that opportunity. I do hopelessly hope our players play minimally during the international break (I doubt it, national teams like to run down our players). But our guys need a break. They looked so gassed the last 10-15 mins of regulation and the entire extra time periods.

I know it's only March, but in terms of reinforcements in the summer, the rumours that the Liverpool journalists are hearing/putting out is that we are expected to invest heavily this summer. (I feel like I hear this every other window, so I'll believe it when I see it.)

My gut now tells me that VvD is the only one that re-signs with Liverpool. I am 50-50 on Salah, but I think he is now closer to leaving than staying. And TAA has had his eye on the exit door since at least December.

I would expect Kelleher to stop playing nice and force an exit, and rightfully so. We probably fetch 20-25M GBP for him.
I personally love Joe Gomez. I think he is a great versatile defender when fit. But that is his problem, he is never fit. Knowing our luck, the second we sell him, he will string 20+ months without an injury and be an England regular. I would demand 40-45M GBP for his services. (Newcastle were offering 45M GBP last summer).
If we could get 15M GBP for Endo, I'd sell him too and let Bajcetic (who has been playing quite well in Spain) fill that role.
I continue to have mixed feelings on Darwin. But it really does feel like his days on Merseyside are numbered. He is still young, turning 26 in the summer, so I would expect a fee of somewhere in the 50-55M GBP range for him to see the exit. (Saudi apparently came in in January and offered 60M+ GBP for him).
I would think we bring a LB so one of Robbo or Tsimikas would need to make way for him. I think 20-25M GBP for either of them would be good. Keep the other as cover.
I would then also expect us to sell a few of our players that have been out on loan like Rhys Williams, Nat Phillips (finally) as well as the odd youngster or two like James McConnell or Trent Kone-Doherty that should fetch another 10-15M GBP total.

My favoured incomings would be Bournemouth's 21 year old LB Kerkez (30M), 19 year old CB Dean Huijsen (40M), Ajax's 18 year old CB/FB Jorrel Hato (30M), Brighton's 21 year old CM Carlos Baleba (35M), and Alexander Isak (110M).

In an ideal world, our departures would fetch a total of ~160-165M GBP. The above incomings would cost ~245M. So an investment of 80-85M GBP would be required from FSG to revamp this squad and provide reinforcements to the back line where we always seem to have injuries and in the midfield where we need players that Slot actually trusts to rotate in and give breaks to our midfield three. And if Salah does indeed go, we'd need to replace his goal contribution output (an admittedly impossible task), but the only player I would want in world football at the moment would be Isak at Newcastle (and if you believe the internet, he would try to force his way out of Tyneside if they don't get CL football next season. So root for whoever plays Newcastle the rest of the way).

What I would want our 2025-2026 roster to look like (without Salah ):
GKs: Alisson Becker, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Vitezslav Jaros
RBs: Conor Bradley, Calvin Ramsey
CBs: VvD, Ibou Konate, Dean Huijsen, Jorrel Hato, Jarell Quansah
LBs: Andy Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas, Milos Kerkez
CMs: Carlos Baleba, Dominik Szoboszlai. Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Stefan Bajcetic, Tyler Morton
LW: Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo
CF: Alexander Isak, Diogo Jota
RW: Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliott, Ben Doak

As always, thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

I don't disagree with anything you said. Great post. The one point you mentioned that I would push back on is Robertson/Tsimikas. I think Robo is coming back and going to play out his contract with Liverpool. He's been really quite good since the start of the new year. Tsimikas is absolutely getting sold though if possible. He's just not good enough to be in this team outside of his set piece delivers.

Which brings me to your second list of players; I think Kerkez is awesome and would be a phenomenal pickup. Young Andy Robertson esc. how he flies up and down the wing and his attacking ability in the final third. It also allows you to conserve Robertson for the end of his career. I love Huijsen as well. Stud. Would take both tomorrow.

I don't know what the heck to think about Isak. He's pound for pound the best out and out, all-around No. 9 in the world right now, but are Newcastle really going to sell to a team in the EPL? Let alone to their rival Liverpool? I find it hard to believe unless Isak really makes a stink this offseason and Newcastle are in some FFP warm waters.

If we do let Salah walk, which feels increasingly likely, you positively, absolutely have to go out and get another world class winger. No matter what we or the club think of Doak's future, you cannot go into next season with Chiesa (I think he's gone too in all honesty), Elliott and Doak. In this instance, I would like them to give Johan Bakayoko at PSV a serious, serious look. He's all-around awesome, but he brings pace that I don't think we currently have.

ETA: I do believe they are going to go out an spend this offseason. To what extent I don't know, but I think they will. We are going to be losing too much, and I think Slot has a much better idea of what he wants in this team now.

Chiesa, Elliott, and Doak would be the RWs on paper. In practice, I would expect Jota, Diaz, and Gakpo to be the ones to primarily rotate among the two winger positions. I think all three could play either side if asked. Elliott deserves more minutes and Ben Doak needs to continue developing. But the Scotsman is killing it in the Championship, might end up being the league's player of the season. Chiesa, on the other hand, I am more torn about. He has shown to be a really good winger in the past. I think his early season injury set him back in Slot's mind and it seems he has been made the scapegoat for the abysmal showing at Plymouth as I don't think he has played a single second since then. There is a player in there, can Slot bring him out? We also only paid something like 10M for him. He is worth another season.

Johan Bakayoko is a good shout though. Still only 21, he could really develop into something if PSV are willing to part with him. He played really well against us. He will not come cheap though. It is very hard to find a world-class left footed winger. There aren't many. Almost as hard as finding a good central striker not named Haaland or Isak.

I was impressed with Desire Doue last night for PSG. He caused us a lot of problems when he came on. But PSG just paid something like 50M Euros for him so the 19 year old isn't going anywhere any time soon

I think Baj comes back next year and rotates with Connor at RB. Based on what I've seen from him this year, he doesn't appear to be a Slot 6. He is more of a box to box destroyer like Endo, who may only get spot duty. Jurgen loved him, but Slot likes a calming influence that can control the game like Gravy or Zubi.

I think he could be really valuable in replacing TAA. He could absolutely be a RB that inverts to a midfielder in possession and a wing defender without it. I think his energy and long ball distribution could be a real asset on that flank, and he will definitely take on the defensive responsibilities.

Good idea. We're going to need more cover at RB, especially as Bradley seems to be as fragile as they come.

There's a strong possibility that's the case, given that he may not return until the league is all but wrapped up. (Just speculating, I haven't heard anything other than he'll be out for the cup final)
