This is the official thread for Group G. Group G contains Belgium, Egypt, Iran and New Zealand.
Belgium are on the back end of what was considered their golden generation although they've received a nice boost from Jeremy Doku. They can still shred teams on their day as the USA found out back in March. Egypt return after missing in 2022. They'll go as far as Salah and Marmoush can take them. Iran are in their 4th straight World Cup. New Zealand have the sad distinction of coming in as the lowest FIFA ranked team in the tournament at 85, below both Curacao and Haiti. Hopefully we can see All Whites make some noise in what could be a somewhat open battle for second place in the group.

Belgium win big in their last match and win Group G. Egypt hang on for dear life and keep 2nd place. Iran finish with 3 points and a 0 GD so they should be safe in the 3rd round advance, but it'll be close. New Zealand just don't quite have enough and leave their 3rd World Cup still looking for their first World Cup win.
