Iran flopping around like a South American side
I know how it works, I don't have to like it.PatAg said:fig96 said:
He leaned first, who cares.
I get that we call offside now by measuring inches, and it's dumb.
By leaning first he was offside
IMO if you need to slow down the instant replay or draw a digital line to tell if he was off or not, let the play stand.YouBet said:fig96 said:

Well, then it becomes where do you draw the line? Its easier to just declare offsides if any part of you is rather than get into a debate of distance if they decided to make it 6 in, 12 in, etc.

I'm not saying we shouldn't review or that my opinion is the only right one, I just genuinely don't care if a player is 3 inches offside.

🚨 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: FIFA have opened the door to implementing Arsene Wenger's new offside rule.

A player will only be judged offside if they have completely passed the last defender, meaning decisions will no longer be based on marginal body parts.

Wenger is an idiot. It won't solve the "he's off by a millimeter" issue. All it does is change the decision point from the player being a mm in front to being a mm clear.
And it fundamentally changes soccer as the daylight offside change would give the attacker literally a running head start. No defender would ever catch them. So to combat that you would find teams playing sweepers in deep.

Arsene Wenger, who works for FIFA, wants to change the offside rule to have the attacking player be deemed offside only if there is a visible gap between him and the second-to-last defender. So if any part of the attacker's body is level with the defender, then that's considered to be onside.🚨 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: FIFA have opened the door to implementing Arsene Wenger's new offside rule.

Shockingly, MLS handles this extremely well: make the official on the field make the call. Make the VAR use live action replays only to determine if there was a clear an obvious error.
The rule was never ever intended to be held to the level of precision we have. So either the rule itself needs to be changed, or we need to ignore the technology and let humans make the call (and overturn only when clearly and obviously wrong).
