I just dont like Sochan at the 3.

Sochan's an extremely high level perimeter defender and pretty mediocre at best in the post. I'm not sure how you can see him as a big when he is clearly not good there.

Quote:

In fact, I'm not sure if I would extend him at all. This is a big season for him but if his shooting splits don't improve drastically then I'm not sure what his future looks like.

I hope we do extend him on his current value. Right now, he is a ~25mpg bench forward. That should be a 6-9% of the cap extension. So like 4y50M. If he can just learn to make the corner three, he becomes significantly more valuable.

Quote:

In fact, I would argue Fleming at the 4 and Vassell at the 3 is a better "fit" in today's nba. Especially if Castle is out there to be your POA defender.

Until one of them hits threes at the 34% mark or higher, you have to stagger Sochan and Castle for the most part. But you absolutely need a POA defender out there at all times, and we have two high level ones in Sochan and Castle.

Quote:

Until Sochan can consistently shoot he shouldn't be playing on the perimeter. Makes things way too difficult on offense for everyone else.
You realize that who you guard on defense and the role you play on offense are two different things, right? If you have a PF that can shoot like Naz or Fleming, then Sochan can play a more traditional PF role on offense while playing a perimeter defense role on defense. And that is ideally how we utilize him because Sochan is a really great roll man and a really great perimeter defender. Barnes essentially played the 3 on offense with Sochan at 4 and Barnes played the 4 on defense while Sochan played on the perimeter because Barnes doesn't have the lateral movement to play on the perimeter.

Kyle Mann (again on Lowe) said that Sorber is going to the Spurs or OKC. Also said that there's some interest in Beringer.

I've been higher than consensus for a long time, but think I would still take Carter Bryant or Cedric Coward over him.

Quote:

Interesting that OKC currently has 15 full roster spots with Jwill and Mitchell having team options. Likely going to have those guys fall off if they want to make room for a draft pick this year.
And they have the 15th and 24th picks. Obviously some trades going down, but I would absolutely pick up JWill from them.

I can see OKC consolidating to jump a few spots to get a Coward or someone that really fits their system.

I think you're also overrating his perimeter defense tbh. I would say it's good but not great or elite.

The stats show he is an elite perimeter defender, especially in isolation. We also know that he has the quickness to keep up on the perimeter and has a huge size advantage with a 7'+ wingspan and being 230lbs.

But until he can put together the other parts of his game, he is a 25mpg backup forward we have to stagger with Castle.

I agree. Or they could punt the picks to future years and run it back. They have Nikola Topic coming in next year. Next year their cap is fine, but the following year they are in trouble.

When you make it to the playoffs, you will need players like Sochan.

Agree 100%. Sochan, Castle and Wemby are the only players I feel confident where the moment won't be too big for them in the post season.

Sochan is an absolute beast, he can be in a playoff rotation even without a jumper because he can give you so much on D. He's who you stick on SGA and Luka to get under their skin and we really need guys like that. I'm hoping we hear about a 5/90 Sochan extension before the offseason starts.

"I have a note on my phone with questions to ask the guys, KD [Kevin Durant], 'Bron [LeBron James]," Wembanyama said on stage at Fanatics Fest in New York on Saturday. "I had the chance to talk to [Nikola] Joki for 45 minutes at All-Star [weekend]. And I'm taking notes."

Wembanyama added: "When I'm told something, I don't forget it. It's super precious, for sure."

Quote:

"It was a great experience," Wembanyama said. "My goal going there was putting my body through things that it's not used to doing and allowing my range of movement and strength. This was probably as very different as possible from what I'm used to doing."
What did that entail?

"Kung fu. Everyday. It was like a vegan temple, monastery. … I was isolated," Wembanyama said. He added that many of the meals consisted of zucchini and rice noodles. That meant sneaking out to eat some sort of meat to maintain his weight, which he told Hart is up to 245 pounds.

About Pop:

Quote:

"First of all, the person," Wembanyama said. "We were all really close. We all have really good relationships between the teammates and him. It's always sad and shocking when something like this happens. What's incredible with him is that he keeps giving hope being the person that he is. He keeps inspiring us. Because the way he works, he works harder than most athletes in the world."

Is that an inclusive list of all players above 68%, or selective to just show guys who turned into stars?

Durant would have been great here. Don't like seeing him in Houston.

Detroit for Duren or Beef Stew?
Bulls for Vooch?
Nets for Claxton?

Big thing is the Suns likely go with a big there while the Spurs are likely looking at a forward. I think the Rockets would have taken a forward or Jeremiah Fears if he dropped. Good for the Spurs draft, imo.

Good thing is you'll only have to see him there for about half the season each year.

Can't grade it fully until you see what type of contract extension Houston has to give him.

Durant's been pretty toxic everywhere he has been and he has only played an average of 54 games per season over the last 6 seasons. I'm not sweating it at all. Gives them a number 1 scorer in the playoffs for sure... but will he be healthy? He wasn't last year and missed all of April as Phoenix closed the season 1-9.

Yeah I agree. I don't mind not doing the deal for him. was just hoping he would come here on a discounted deal to play here and with Wemby. Doesn't seem like that's the case so I'm fine with passing on him. Still would have been great here.

No way it is inclusive. There are absolutely some DeAndre Jordan-like guys that have really high rim FG% because they only dunk.

In the state of Texas alone you'll have

Kevin Durant
Anthony Davis
Kyrie Irving
Cooper Flagg
Klay Thompson
Victor Wembanyama
De'Aaron Fox
Dylan Harper

Surprised they didn't go for Jabari instead of Brooks. Theyve got 5 dudes that would be in the 2-deep at SG for just about any team in the league. Probably have another trade coming up

Gonna be like the mid 2000s when teams would take the Texas triangle of death road trip.

Also you left Castle off your list.

I don't think Houston would let them. Bari makes about half of Brooks, so it makes the trade more complicated because you have to add a 3rd and maybe 4th player for salary to match.

This trade hardcaps Houston at the 2nd apron, so there wasn't much wiggle room. Brooks+Green is only about 700k cheaper than Durant. If Houston put out a lot of money, they had big problems cutting more salary.

One of the firsts that Phoenix sent out was received back by Phoenix in this trade.

So they traded Bridges, Johnson, and 3 firsts into a 2.5y rental of Durant plus Green and Brooks.

It does say that it's non-big men.
