As has been stated, when Quintance is healthy he's the best defender in the draft. I'm going to assume that the Spurs medical team gave a good enough report for us to take a swing on him. With where we are we can afford to let him come back slowly.

If he can be a poor man's Ben Wallace then this could work out pretty well. Still wanted some offensive firepower. Maybe this is how the Spurs keep other teams from putting Wemby in a bunch of pick and rolls if this guy is waiting as the help defender.

Love his athleticism, rebounding and defense if healthy Does he project more as a center or PF?

His shooting is atrocious. I think it's going to be increasingly hard to play if you can't at least kind of stretch the defense so will need to develop something.

He's only 18 so could be a monster in a few years if he develops. Of course we couldn't afford to keep him most likely if he did turn into something so maybe it's just the rebounding and athleticism we want for a few years.

It's a bit of an interesting pick when the Spurs could/should arguably be in win now mode.

Front office has earned some credibility outside of the Fox contract recently (although not so sure the last 3 or 4 of the picks were all that hard to nail) but will give them the benefit of the doubt for sure.

He's (theoretically) way more mobile than Kornet so can move out on the perimeter better, but on offense, he's going to clog the paint and only operates in the dunkers spot

Hope Knicks don't get Carr, or Philon, they should have been off the board
