If Parades doesn't get hurt we don't trade for Correa. I suspect that money goes to a quality arm.

I probably won't watch a pitch of the postseason if the Astros aren't in it.

Same here.
the year after the Oilers left, I didn't watch a single NFL game except the Super Bowl.
I started playing fantasy football in '97 to get myself back into the league.

I saw they were looking for a new medical liaison to coordinate rehab earlier this month.

If you really want to do a minor rebuild, trade Pena. He probably has the most value outside of Brown. Correa can play SS and Urias can takeover 3B with Paredes to 1B.

I'm becoming more comfortable with this idea. His value is as high as it ever has been after this season (since the WS MVP rookie season anyways--and we were not ever going to flip him then). He finally looks like he's putting it together. Unfortunately, I do not foresee us being a major threat for a deep playoff run in the next few years (definitely not after next year). His best years will be wasted here. If we can get solid value in return, I definitely listen to offers in the offseason and slide CC over.

Hard for a pitcher to stop a spiral when the offense gets shut out.

It's sad that this will be a more serious show of baseball than anything that's happened with the Astros since the end of June.

I don't want Carlos at SS every day. He needs to stay at 3rd. He's over 30, and SS creates a lot of additional wear and tear that I don't think CC can handle anymore over a 162-game season.

I like the idea of shifting Paredes to 1B, if you can get someone to take Walker.

If you look to trade Pena, I think you aim to sign someone like Willi Castro.

Someone is going to get traded over the offseason.

Yordan, Altuve, and Paredes can't all DH and Paredes doesn't have a position.

Hopefully Walker and Paredes can learn 1B but even then I'm not sure how effective he can be there with his hamstring issues.

The nail on the coffin with Espada for me what how poorly he handled Framber assaulting Salazar.

I'll wager he lost the clubhouse at that moment.

1000% , then just last night the Yainer lack of hustle, and multiple boneheaded plays by Sanchez. I thought there's no way he lets Sanchez back in this game in the 6th and sure enough he went trotting back out there and almost made another mistake. Only got pulled when they brought in a lefty. Joe is great man, but he's not manager material.

2015 -- saw this. Any truth to this guy's "inside sources?" This is discussing Framber crossing up Salazar and chair being thrown at Framber.

What's insane is that we still have a shot… It would require a miracle which would be winning four games in a row, and then Detroit and Boston to both finish 2-2

Of course, I would love to make the playoffs, and I'm hoping we do… But I could 100% see a scenario where no changes are made if we sneak in to the playoffs

MLB has no real interest in their sport becoming known for PED use. I would suspect they avoid testing as much as possible.

Wouldn't be surprised if Dubon has been tested more than Raleigh. They are not going to do anything to jeopardize a story about somebody challenging a record that might bring a few more eyeballs to the games.

I bet they arent testing for HGH. They catch the idiots liike Profar or Tatis Jr who are so dumb they are using old school steroids. Or some desperate guy in the minors just trying to get ahead of everyone else to catch a ML contract.

Hear me out -- and this is something probably reserved for the off-season thread:

Any interest in going after Kyle Schwarber in the offseason? We have a ton of cash coming off the books.

We could trade Paredes for pitching help/minor leaguers (he has value) and basically hope Walker plays better, or trade Walker and eat some of his contract, sign Schwarber (Sport trac has his market value at $25M/yr), release or trade Sanchez and sign some midlevel SP (Gallen $18M/yr or 2nd tier Kopech, Littell or Civale for about $10M/year).

We are about $85 million under the tax for next year. Rough math with those signings would put us about $20-25M under.

Here's the thing with Schwarber: He gets the Astros another LHH power bat that is needed. He and Yordan can alternate at DH and LF. He has experience at 1B (although not much) -- so that's an option.

So you'd have a team that looks like this:

C Yainer R
1B Paredes or Walker (whoever is not traded) R/R
2B Altuve R
SS Pena R
3B Correa R
DH Yordan L
LF Schwarber L
CF Meyers R
RF Smith R

Bench: Caratini C(re-sign) R, Urias INF R, Dubie INF/OF R, 4th OF LHH FA (Kepler, Mullins, Conforto all are between $7-8M/yr MV to platoon with Smith. Conforto has the best OPS against RHP with a career .812) and Cole can be the first guy up from AAA.

SP:
HB, Javier, Gallen/Kopech/Civale, Spaghetti, Costanza

RP:
France (long relief), Okert, Murray, Blue Balls, Sousa, LMJ? Abreu, Hader

Injury guys (who we may or may not see next year):
Blanco, LuAce (probably not), Wesneski, Walter, Rooney

I think you could win with that group.

And -- I know it's an aging lineup, but there is going to be a strike in 2027 anyway -- so might as well see if you can go all-in in 2026. Remember, Seattle loses Suarez and Naylor at the end of the year, and Texas has a lot of soul-searching to do. The As are up-and-comers. The Angels are Mike Trout and the poors.

I've been thinking this a while now. The guy has never hit more than 34 HRs a season. In the minors he's never hit more than 29.

This year, he's nearly doubled his career high in HRs. His slug has jumped about 170 points. His OPS is up over 200 points. AND -- he has caught 120 games (DH 35 more).
