I really miss that Luhnow trade that brought over Fiers and Gomez.

Today the #Braves acquired UT Mauricio Dubón (-$2.3M surplus trade value) from the #Astros in exchange for IF Nick Allen ($2.3M)

The deal is accepted by our model as a moderate overpay by Atlanta.

there have been 34 seasons in MLB history in which a player has appeared in at least 3 games at 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, LF, CF and RF
2 of them were Mauricio Dubón in 2024 and 2025 https://t.co/JC8y6GT3V9 pic.twitter.com/w3hictWMS1

oh my, Dubon is gone.
but Dana had to do it with Espada remaining as manager
Joe would not stop playing him or starting him in order to give rest to better players
plus Dubon never changed his approach at the plate
this is where I see things headed too… go to war with the offense we have (less Walker) and try to win with an elite rotation and bullpen.Farmer1906 said:
Allen isn't versatile like Dubon, but he's an elite defensive middle INF. We didn't have anyone in the system to plug in to SS if Pena goes down. It makes sense to add him if you're un loading Dubon's contract.
In a vacuum, I don't love the deal. However, I think we're seeing a very aggressive salary dump (Walker next) because there is going to some big moves coming. I think we add a high dollar starting pitcher and trade for another INF (Donny or Lowe).

By designating Urías for assignment and trading Dubón, the Astros freed up money they can spend in their pursuit of pitching

The Astros have parted ways with Chas McCormick, Luis Garcia, Ramón Urías and Mauricio Dubón this month. @mlbtraderumors projected that quartet to make a combined $15.8 million in arbitration - https://t.co/7IITgvxwD5

If we spend all the saved money on just so we can afford to pay and run out a decaying JV, this will be the dumbest off-season ever.

Perhaps shes the reason Crane keeps bringing JV back.
Source: The Astros are hiring Tim Cossins as catching coach, the position previously held by Michael Collins. Cossins, 55, was the Orioles' Major League field coordinator/catching instructor from 2019-25 and held similar roles with the Cubs (2013-18) and Marlins (2008-12).

Nick Allen is literally sleeping with the enemy. He's married to Brett Boone's daughter. He also looks like he's 12.

Rome reports the Astros are fielding calls on both Meyers and Sanchez. Meyers's value is as high as it's ever been.
Projected Arb $Between these two and Walker, the Astros can move their "cap space" from ~25 M to 40-50 M.
- Meyers 3.5 M
- Sanchez 6.5 M
40-50 M gets you
- Stud SP: 25 AAV
- Lowe/Donny: 6-11 AAV
- JV: 10 AAV
- Backup C: 4-8 AAV

Who is playing CF? Melton? woof. He can play the position defensively but man oh man he just looks like he cannot hit a lick. Thast Jake defensively and Dubon offensively.
Cole? Dezenzo? They are corner guys.
Now you need s CFer.

A few options
Cole has played plenty of CF in the minors, so he would be an option. Melton as well. You could also go outside the org. Signing one for more money probably isn't the play. Maybe you can land Nootbar and Donny from the Cards. I wouldn't hate that. Make Belly your big FA signing?
