6 left last year. 2 seniors out of eligibility this year. What possible medical retirements are on the horizon? How many of what's left will enter the portal and are they good enough to be signed by other programs?

Except for Janiah who is first off the bench at ucla, I don't see any of others making a decisive impact for their new teams.

Only 2 recruits of mediocre pedigree for '25, no one else of any consequence on the horizon. Not enough NIL dollars to pay players to want to play for her. The program is in shambles. I don't see how you let it go for another year.

Sydney Bowles has seen significant time at Florida State and has helped them win many games. She recently had a 32 point game; averages 26 mins/game, and 10 pts/game

Tineya Hylton is basically a star at Cincinatti; averages 30 min/game and 15 pts/game

JBark - 6th man of the year. Will be a starter next year; 19 mins/game and 9 pts/game

Maliyah Johnson is seeing significant minutes at Ball State and helped her team to a conference title, going 23-7 and 15-2 in conference. Averaged 17 mins/game and 7 pts per game.

Kay Kay Green averages 30 minutes and 7 pts per game for Charlotte.

Mya Petticord averages 25 mins/game and 7 pts per game for this year (down bc she's been injured). The prior year she averaged 31 mins/game and 11 pts per game.

We lost significant contributions, and nobody knows why.

Kay Kay & MJ left because of the arrest for drugs (TBH - I'm surprised Kendall stayed - but happy she did)
Janiah - her girlfriend is in CA...therefore - she wanted to be in CA.
Sydney & TIneya -... I really don't know. The latter half of last season - Sydney & Tineya just didn't look comfortable, happy & they were coming off the bench.
Mya - she was the only signee from GB's last class that came to TAMU. So, my thought is she decided that it wasn't a good fit - so she left after her freshman year

Agree with most of that and appreciate the insight. I think Joni struggled to give her guards ample playing time last year - they all wanted to play, but they were given very few minutes collectively. If we could have held on to Tineya and Sydney, this would have been a different season. I do understand Janiah's desire, but I think there was more to it than just her gf. There was quite a bit of unrest within the team, and it seems to have carried over to this year as well. I'm really worried about what we are going to see happen to our team once the portal gets ahold of our team.

After listening to Trev's interview on TexAgs, I don't believe we will see a change in leadership in the WBB program. He didn't hire her and it seems like he wants to make sure he has given the program everything they need to be successful before a change is made. Seems to me that he isn't certain if he has given her everything. He didn't refer to her or her program specifically, but just in general when discussing changes in leadership. I can't think of another program that needs a change in leadership, so I have to assume the discussion is about WBB.

Arizona St makes a change after three seasons

So it can in fact be done

Agree but Trev made a point of highlighting the fact that he didn't hire her and there's been a lot of change since he took over and he wants to make sure all the coaches have what they need from him. Just sounds like he's content to let this ride out.

What else is Trev actually going to give Joni he didn't give her over the past year?

At least one you list, if not 2 or 3 were arrested for weed possession and dismissed if my memory is correct.

They were both graduates at that point so I'm assuming she encouraged them to leave. MJ wasn't really given a chance. kayKay was at least a point guard which would have been nice to have. Idk. Nothing the coach has done makes sense to me but that doesn't matter.

This.

What can an AD give a coach to make sure she doesn't lose a game by 40pts to an average opponent?
20ag07
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It's not even that she lost by 40.

Her team only scored 37 points, which is less than what my 9 yo daughter's team (who is not good at all) averages.

Trev ain't gonna do one single thing to change that.

I'm assuming he means resources. I'm not defending Joni at all but maybe she has expressed that she has not been provided the resources promised by Bjork? Idk. I'm just assuming that's what he's referring to.

To me it's really simple. Now that college athletics is more of a business than ever, she isn't producing in one of the few sports that can break even. If Trev doesn't make a change, then he simply doesn't care about the bottom line.

She can use injuries and other excuses that every school deals with, but that goes out the window when TCU was holding open tryouts 14 months ago, and are now going to be a 1 or 2 seed in the tournament.
20ag07
How long do you want to ignore this user?
There are no resources that are standing in the way.

Trev CANNOT give Joni NIL money.

Trev can keep her as competitive with every other school in revenue sharing.

But that was NOT the problem here. And won't be something he can save next year.

Breakeven? I didn't even think LSU or USCe broke even in wbb

I just heard an analyst say "You can't out coach recruiting." That's the statement of the year. We are failing in that department. Not even remotely competitive.

I don't disagree with any of what you guys are saying. I would think, though, that if we were making a move it would have already been announced. Our season is over and has been for a while if we've being honest.
20ag07
How long do you want to ignore this user?
There are $1.5M x 2 reasons why Trev WOULDN'T announce something right now.

Arizona State, for example, can, because their coach only makes $600K/year.

Trev would LOVE for Joni to find a soft landing spot. So OF COURSE he is not ready to tip his hand.

You can't read enough into ANYTHING you've seen on the current timelines to say a move will or will not be made.

lol we signed 2 prospects for 2025. One isn't on any recruiting site and the other is an international player from Italy who hardly played for Italy's U18 team in the Euro Championships

The popular things nowadays is to have around a top 16, then cut it to a top 4 or 5! So the top in state prospects for 2026, we're not even making their top 16 lol

Last home game we honored: Sahara Jones, Aicha Coulibaly, Lauren Ware, Amirah Abdur-Rahim, Jada Malone, and Kyndal Hunter

Jones and Coulibaly are out of eligibility, according to posters the other 4 can return. So we'll have to wait and see. If they return and without any losses to the portal, that's 11 girls returning. Portal officially opens in 17 days. Last year we lost 6 to the portal… we'll see what happens this year. Do our veterans want to stick around and hope for a 180 in the program or go somewhere they can join a winning program?? I'm interested how this portal cycle shapes up for us.

Not sure who's in charge of recruiting but just realized we have an Executive Director of External Operations, Marketing and Strategic Relations and a Director of Administration and Special Projects… I guess that helps winning! Can't forget about our Director of Athletic Culture!

It's just a jobs program for Joni's friends and family. Not one of them has demonstrated any ability to excel at their stated position since they got here.
