If the determinant criteria is "who has been playing the best golf recently", then yea, I agree Morikawa should be left off.

Seems like some clues are starting to build:.

-JT/Morikawa - Only guys not in the top 6 invited to Keegan's dinner. I'd have to think that means both are in.
-Burns - Rumors circulating that he's already been told he's in.
-Cantlay/Young - I can't imagine them not making it (my opinion)
-Griffin - NLU and others "hearing" that he may be odd man out. Combined with Keegan's cryptic remarks about "some guys who think they're in may not be".
-Keegan himself - Seems like he's being goaded into playing by the players and half the golf universe.

But then when you take a step back and try to square all that with the indicative metrics of who's playing the best golf, it seems absurd that Morikawa is basically in and Griffin could be on the wrong side of the bubble.

Man, tomorrow is going to be awesome.

If he's taking Morikawa, it isn't a Griffin vs. Morikawa discussion. It's a Griffin vs Keegan discussion.

I agree, if you just take the last few months Morikawa has played the worst of the options. The difference is what Morikawa can be. Just in March of this year he was 3rd best player in the world in data golf. If you're taking him, you're rolling the dice that he gets some time off to get back right, because if he does your adding a level of player that Young, Burns, Griffin and Keegan just aren't.

I think you have to make the decision on rolling the Morikawa dice separately from everything else. If you say yes (and I would), then it becomes a 3 players for 4 spots, and between Young, Burns, Griffin and Keegan, Keegan has been pretty clearly playing the worst.

Someone here has said it before, this thing isn't going to be decided by the 12th guy on the team, you can play them 2 or 3 matches and be fine. It is going to be decided by the top end players. So if I've got my choice, I'm going to take a flier on a 12th guy that has shown the ability to be one of those top end players.

I agree with this. It seems like Morikawa is in anyway, so the discussion around him being on/off is probly moot.

But I would bet on his upside. If he's right, he can anchor a foursomes pairing. If not, he can play a few four ball matches.

I dont think it matters if he picks himself, or anyone else. I think the USA is going to get there asses kicked. The euro's have a lot more experience and most of there guys are playing great golf right now.

If the US wins, I don't think anyone says they won because Keegan played. If the US doesn't win, everyone says Keegan should've focused on his job as captain.

I don't know. I haven't looked at the numbers but it feels like Victor, Ludwig, Lowry, Fitz, and Straka have all underperformed lately. And even Rory has cooled off a bunch over the last 3 or 4 months.

I get Tommy and Rose's recent success, but I'm not seeing it across the board.

Pretty lame if Bradley chose himself over Ben Griffin.

Griffin is a better player. Sure, he has never been on the Ryder Cup team but we're playing at home. He'll have the support of all the fans.

Bradley felt like he was snubbed in 2023. Well, I guess this is his chance to correct that.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how he handles it if he picks himself over Ben. I'll be the first to say I kept expecting him to slow down at some point, and he just never did. Top 10-15 week after week. He's playing way better than Keegan was in 2023, it would be an incredible snub.

The points are calculated off money won in last years majors and 2025 regular season. Griffin got all the way to 9th in the points with only playing in one major last year and missing the first elevated event this year, that's missing out on a lot of potential points. If you take out last year's majors and the Sentry, he'd be ahead of Collin and JT in the standings.

And he's playing WAY better than Collin. I think if anyone is on the bubble it should be Collin but there just seems to be too much bias favoring his history. He's been pretty mediocre the last 3-4 months. I don't get the Morikawa love, and I actually like him as a player but I don't think he's playing well enough to be included.

Like I said in my post, you make the Collin choice separately because it's a roll of the dice to see if he finds it and gets back to his form from March, because if he does it's a top 4 player. I don't think Keegan, Burns or Griffin have that potential.

If he's off the team, there's room for all 4. If he's on, then the worst player gets left off and that should be Keegan.

I think Keegan goes JT, Burns, Morikawa, Cantlay, Cam and himself. If there is a surprise, I think it's Collin.
