How can you not be excited about this team and this upcoming season

It's been a long while(excluding last season, but lots of unknowns last year) since I've been this excited for Aggie volleyball! This season could be the most successful season Aggie volleyball history

Looks like Kyndal Stowers will be a tremendous upgrade to our team! She provides another high quality arm and she can play all 6 rotations and is just as dangerous from the back row! Emily Hellmuth has seemed to have had a strong spring! Also having Taylor Humphrey and Megan Fitch only solidifies the outside hitter position for us! No more worries on if Humphrey or Hellmuth have a rough night, we have more options and all can help us win! Taryn Morris looks to be really solid as well she can provide relief for Lednicky on the right side or play on the other side! Perkins missed some of the spring matches, but played tremendously today! Her and Cos-Okpalla will be a great middle duo once again! They deserve more national media recognition! Addi Applegate played a lot this spring with Tatum Thomas out, all 3 little played today and I'm sure all will contribute this season with Underwood solidified at Libero! Serving was great today, if that stays hot, then we can compete with anyone and everyone in the country!! Let's stay healthy this summer, keep improving our game, then it's time to make some noise this season!!! 120 days till first serve

Also starting this coming week I'll start introductions one by one to our roster and give us all a bio and look into each player on our roster! I'll start with the freshman and end it with the seniors!

Commits Gabi Rodriguez, Jenna Thedford, and Brooke Lacewell posted that they were in attendance!

Took my 9 year old volleyball playing daughter to both matches yesterday. After her double header in Plano in the morning, we grabbed lunch and headed down to SMU. She had a blast! Was general admission and got court side seats for both.

The SMU match was definitely more exciting. The OU one felt like a scrimmage.

The first installment of our player profiles is freshman Libero Addi Applegate. Making the journey to College Station, Texas from the small town of Yorktown, Indiana, Applegate committed to Jamie Morrison in September of 2023 as the lone Libero and lone out of state signee of the 2025 class.

Applegate was a 4 year lettermen for Yorktown High School, a dominant volleyball program. She was the Libero all 4 years for Yorktown where she surpassed 2000 career digs, an outstanding accomplishment. A career 4.5 digs per set and 14.8 digs per match. Those are impressive over a 4 year stretch. Also of note she had 161 aces. She led her senior year team to the Indiana State Championship Game, but they fell just short.

She played club volleyball for Munciana. A long time club serving the Muncie, Indiana metropolitan area. She was a part of a Munciana team that won a Junior Volleyball National Championship. She was a Libero/DS along with Lola Schumacher of Wisconsin, a Stanford signee and Penn State signee creating one of the best back rows in the club scene. Her team was littered with divison 1 talent.

Throughout her prep and high school career she was a Max Preps All American, Prep Volleyball All American, AVCA All American and a JVA All American. She also participated in the USA National Team Development Program with the top youth prospects across America.

Applegate has been enrolled since January and worked with the team all spring! She played a lot in the spring matches, especially with Tatum Thomas out. Morrison likes to utilize defensive specialists, so I expect we will see a lot of outstanding freshman this fall. She's a great passer and you wouldn't be able to tell she's only a freshman. She looked strong throughout the spring and received rave reviews from fans in attendance!

The Aggies only lost one player who played consistent minutes from last fall in DS Ellee Stinson. The return and improvement of Libero Ava Underwood and Tatum Thomas will ease that loss, but having Applegate eases it even more! Underwood and Thomas are both seniors, so a year under their wing will be really beneficial to Applegate. After this upcoming 2025 season, Applegate will be thrust into a major leadership role as the lone returner in the back row, but in 2026 the Aggies will have an excellent duo of Gabi Rodriguez and Jenna Thedford to join Applegate in the back row.

Here's what Head Coach Jamie Morrison had to say on Applegate, "She is one of the best serve receive liberos in the class. She has the ability to take a hard driven ball and not only dig it but put it in a good place for her setter to run the offense in rhythm."

It's easy to only think about the star studded senior class this team is composed of, but there is a strong freshman class that will add some balance and depth to this team. This was Jamie Morrison's first full recruiting class. Applegate will be a huge addition not only in the back row, but to this team and to this university. I think she's going to have an excellent career in Aggieland!

Honestly, I wish volleyball could get its own sub category at this point. I think it probably has more eyes on it than women's basketball.
