This is another example of why it's best not to talk down to people when you're basically defending uninformed speculation. I'm sure that'll sink in.

Seems like the public backlash was enough to persuade abc to push back on the attempted strong arm tactics.

He kind of is. Unfortunately between his administration and the Supreme Court, we probably won't be so lucky with the next guy.

The only stong arm tactics were on the part of Democrats and their leftist minions on ABC. Sinclair is still pre-empting the show.

Might want to wait for the powers that be respond to him being on-air again before you eat crow or do a victory dance.

You're totally right if you ignore all the posted examples of the FCC putting pressure on ABC.

Read: we need a strongly worded tweet to throw out there but he'll be back on in a couple of days.

Seriously who makes more money off who? Sinclair or Disney. Mouse threatens to move all the live sports off ABC and onto ESPN and what happens?

Well when all is said and done, I think we can all agree that Jimmy Kimmel has defeated Donald Trump.

His party and the media could no longer hide the fact that he had lost the ability to properly function. It wasn't a matter of him "giving up". He did what he was told.

But he was totally fine to run the country for six more months after that last debate. No worries there. Totally up to the task.

You don't agree that silencing dissenting opinions is authoritarian? That's interesting, I thought that was the whole point of this thread. I guess I was right before when I said most of the gnashing of teeth was selective and performative, at least as it pertains to you.

When Trump has a cameo in The Mandalorian movie as a concession, people will feel differently

I'm sure it's disappointing if you thought his show getting canceled was the best news of the year.

But the only joy I get in life is from owning the libs. I could make love with my sweet and beautiful wife, or enjoy a nice bike ride through the woods, but having libs own space in my brain is what brings me real joy and makes life worth living.

Since this is supposedly an entertainment forum and not a political. I'm not really sure reading this thread. I thought it best to real it back into to entertainment.

No. He said that maga was trying to frame it as if it wasn't one of them. Which was entirely true.

So what is your definition of frame? I'd say "produce false evidence against (an innocent person) so that they appear guilty" would be a good one. Which would mean MAGA was lying when they said it wasn't them. AKA it was a republican that killed him.

"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it".

Assume an unbiased third party read and watched that statement, body language, facial expression and everything. They're not going to read it how you're trying to frame it, even if it's technically true.

It reads and sounds like it was a 'maga' person and they're trying to cover it up and score political points. You can keep being disingenuous if you like, but it's pretty clear what he was trying to imply.

So you agree he wasn't "lying about an innocent person's murder". Glad we got there together.

Imagine being so committed to your point, that you've now separated the murderer from their crime, and the motivation from the murderer, to continue a pedantic argument instead of taking the easy out of, 'yeah he said something that whether he meant it or not, comes across as less of a joke set up and more of a misleading factual report. He should just go on tv, own it, apologize, and be more careful.' Probably much easier than blaming the government and the audience for a crappy comic being taken off the air.

I think the bold is the contentious few words. Personally I don't see that him saying the bold is implying that the kid is MAGA. It doesn't say anything about the kid. It is talking about MAGA's response to the kid. I think you have to read too much between the lines to see an implication about the kid. But then I don't think I could have told you more than a few sentences about Charlie Kirk at all before 2 weeks ago, so I'm really not invested either way.

And it was completely 100% unrelated to the joke that followed.

A video snippet of Trump appearing to casually be unphased while claiming to have been mourning..... HAS NOTHING to do with the setup which was MAGA trying desperately (according to Kimmel) to distance from the murderer.

It was unnecessary and really unrelated - and therefore completely intentional political grandstanding. THE VERY THING he was implying about Trump.
