Punishing people who did nothing wrong seems like something a ****ty manager would do.

If it's a good behavior then everyone else is already doing it naturally.

And a good manger may also go to high performers after the meeting to reveal the motive and tell them just keep doing what you're doing.

I would really like to see a venn diagram of the countries now saying they want to negotiate with those which the administration either directly visited with or hosted in the first 30-60 days after January 20th. The groundwork has been getting laid here for a long while.

Off the cuff I remember meetings with:
  • Japan
  • India
  • UK
  • France
  • Germany
  • EU
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Argentina
  • Singapore
  • Israel
  • Jordan
  • Ireland
  • Ukraine
  • Canada (numerous calls, no delegation)
  • Mexico (numerous calls, no delegation)
  • China
  • Poland

Plus Rubio has been to or met with:
  • Belgium
  • Canada
  • Denmark
  • Costa Rica
  • Dominican Republic
  • El Salvador
  • Guatamala
  • Guyana
  • Israel
  • Panama
  • Suriname
  • UAE
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Mexico

This trade war is about crushing the EU and bringing China down a peg..... All the other countries are just a distraction and truly don't matter.

As James Carvel would say - IT'S THE EU / WEF / Old school/old family money Euro Trash Monarchs/Oligarchs STUPID!

Trump is a businessman and all these world leaders, just like our past Presidents and congressmen, haven't worked a day of their lives in the private sector. They couldn't tell you the difference between a spreadsheet and a bed sheet.

It's why they can all talk tough publicly but when their business leaders get them in a private meeting they tell them to STFU and capitulate because they need access to the American market. They don't play in the pretend world of politics.

We manufacture both in the US and overseas. If we were to move our overseas production to the US, it would cost a ton of capital and the overall retail prices of those products would be around 4X what they are now. The products we make here are still hurt by tariffs since US steel companies raise their prices with each round of tariffs on foreign steel. So yes it can be done, but the US consumers will be able to afford far less. This leads to lower sales at retail which leads to retailers going out of business and job losses there.

My guess is that Israel and then by the end of the week 2-3 more will have a working agreement in place and the barriers will come down on a few countries. Honestly I might even wait on it to give Hong Kong another really solid shot to the nuts of China. But Trump probably does this while Bibi is in town and then Argentina and then finally Vietnam and Taiwan. Getting both of them on board would loudly send the message that we're serious about decoupling from the mainland and you're going to need to open your markets.

A lot of those complaining fit nicely under the All hat and no cattle moniker. Y'all were all about Trump for the last 8 years. Now that he is literally doing what he said he was going to do, and it happens to be negatively effecting you monetarily (in the short term) you're all pissy and moaning and *****ing. How do you think family members of those deported feel? Should those stop as well because of hurt feelings? Is it lack of principles, hypocrisy, or just complaining because something that needs to be done for the betterment of our country is painful to you right now.

A little short term pain for long term relief is part of life. It's called delayed gratification. All the actions taken by the Trump administration need to happen. Y'all gonna be OK.

No, pointing out that actions that need to be taken for the betterment of our country can be painful to some in the short term. Get over it.

Fake headline by I think CNBC saying Trump mulling 90 pause on tariffs except for China. And straight back down after people finding out it was fake headline.

Or was it a bull trap?

Well, we can't continue to buy them from China with everything being internet connected these days.

China has literally been caught red handed putting hardware chips into internet routers designed to spy on US communications, which they sold to American telecos. That's why Huawei is pretty much gone in the US.

So, trade embargo on Chinese electronics are needed as a matter of national security.
It takes a special kind of brainwashed useful idiot to politically defend government fraud, waste, and abuse.
