I really don't think is the guy we need to be going after when there are tons of actually dangerous people here illegally that we could be trying to remove instead of a guy that made a dumb mistake a long time ago but is in good legal standing today.
Who 'went after' him?
If his GC is expired, did he not do this to himself?

You're right, they didn't go after him, I could have phrased that better. Are you seeing somewhere that his paperwork was expired? I haven't seen that, but I haven't got to do much digging around besides reading a couple articles from a brief Google search.

This guy? I like Arnold and to be clear, I don't care if anybody smokes weed, I would if my job wasn't dependent on passing a random drug test.
But it looks like he was behaving poorly as a guest in this country as well if a little bit of weed here and there is all that it takes to make you a bad person. Should he have been deported or did he grown up and change?

I remember when the trans stuff first began popping off 10 years ago, and later seeing how the Dems became entrenched around the idea, I remember thinking, this is going to cost them because this is lunacy. Lunacy for a small minority that no majority will ever be able to understand, and there is a strong possibility this is rooted in actual mental health issues.
I have that same alarm going off now. Reps are going to regret HOW this is being done. We were promised criminals and violent *******s being deported, and yet it's the people that work our farms, build our homes, and evidently research and teach in our universities.
I'm sure someone will reply with snide BS, blah, blah, blah. But how this is being done, is not good, and a wild misrepresentation of an already questionable plan. It'll be interesting to see how this gets attacked over the next year or two by political opposition.

That picture is from 1975, so by his own logic, he was a bad guest for a long while before becoming a citizen.

In all honesty, I want to know about both, but I do want to know about the good ones being deported more. Did we throw out the baby with the bath water? I'm only interested in if this was all a net positive.

can't believe these people -- immigrants or green card holders or visa or whatever -- leave the country in the current immigration climate...with ICE operations in full swing everywhere
you can't do that -- gotta tell your friends and relatives: "I'll see you in a few years"
or during your next visit to the states

Criminal expanded from violent and problematic characters to criminal as in they are here illegally, therefore they are all targets now. That's not what people really supported IMO.

Admittedly, I am not well versed in any part of the legal system, especially immigration law, but IF he was in legal standing with his green card status, what law did he really break to be detained currently? I don't know all of the details on why someone keeps a green card vs applying for citizenship, I just know he isn't a bad dude and if his GC isn't expired and he is here legally according to the paperwork he has, then what is the reason for being detained? Like I said earlier in a different reply, if he let anything lapse and expire, then it's on him and he should have taken care of it before trying to leave and re-enter the US.
I guess what I'm trying to say is if his paperwork/documentation is all in good standing, shouldn't he be let go to go back to school/work?
People who have broken no laws get detained all the time until their situations are sorted out. That said, you are taking this guy's word for it. Sounds like "the Maryland dad."
Surely you aren't trying to equate the confirmed MS-13 gang member that was human trafficking to a guy working on his doctorate at A&M that was traveling back from a siblings wedding. Was Kilmer Abrego Garcia here on a green card/work visa or did he enter the country illegally?
A majority of Americans want to deport *all* illegal aliens.

I am saying you have only heard this guy's claims, which is one side of the story and may not be true at all.
Regardless, if he's an illegal, he will face the consequences.

Lived in this country for 35 years, and has a green card? So he didn't apply for citizenship?Quote:
"If the Constitution doesn't apply to somebody who's lived in this country for 35 years and is a green-card holder and only left the country for a two-week vacation that means [the government] is basically arguing that the Constitution doesn't apply to anybody who's been in this country for less time than him," Lee told the Washington Post.
Looks like he was trying to hold on to Korean citizenship, and ICE is going to say No bueno.
Actually ICE would have to say "no bueno" in Korean.
