I really don't think is the guy we need to be going after when there are tons of actually dangerous people here illegally that we could be trying to remove instead of a guy that made a dumb mistake a long time ago but is in good legal standing today.

Who 'went after' him?

If his GC is expired, did he not do this to himself?

Exactly! Narrative dead

You're right, they didn't go after him, I could have phrased that better. Are you seeing somewhere that his paperwork was expired? I haven't seen that, but I haven't got to do much digging around besides reading a couple articles from a brief Google search.

I haven't. Just that it would have expired 3 years ago.

If it's not expired, and there are no other issues...I'll agree 100% with you about the wasted time and effort detaining a guy like this. But if it is...I'm not sure what to say to him.

This guy? I like Arnold and to be clear, I don't care if anybody smokes weed, I would if my job wasn't dependent on passing a random drug test.

But it looks like he was behaving poorly as a guest in this country as well if a little bit of weed here and there is all that it takes to make you a bad person. Should he have been deported or did he grown up and change?

Just a guess, but I highly doubt ICE agents handpicked him for some arbitrary reason. The narrative being pushed here that some rando immigrant is taken to the side for funsies, because we hate immigrants now is dumb.

I'm not claiming his paperwork was expired, I have no idea. However, I am betting there was a reason that most objective observers of the situation will ultimately go, "oh yea, that makes sense. Glad that got sorted out. Carry on".

I remember when the trans stuff first began popping off 10 years ago, and later seeing how the Dems became entrenched around the idea, I remember thinking, this is going to cost them because this is lunacy. Lunacy for a small minority that no majority will ever be able to understand, and there is a strong possibility this is rooted in actual mental health issues.

I have that same alarm going off now. Reps are going to regret HOW this is being done. We were promised criminals and violent *******s being deported, and yet it's the people that work our farms, build our homes, and evidently research and teach in our universities.

I'm sure someone will reply with snide BS, blah, blah, blah. But how this is being done, is not good, and a wild misrepresentation of an already questionable plan. It'll be interesting to see how this gets attacked over the next year or two by political opposition.

That's b/c the media only tells you about the good ones (even though they are ALL LAWBREAKERS).

They keep pretty quite about the bad ones.

Sounds like all of you whiners have a problem with the laws.

The executive branch of the government enforces the law.

Your issues are with the legislative branch.

Just because Biden's executive branch did not enforce the laws does not mean the deportations are Trump's fault. It just proves that the Biden administration neglected their primary duty to enforce the laws of this nation.

In all honesty, I want to know about both, but I do want to know about the good ones being deported more. Did we throw out the baby with the bath water? I'm only interested in if this was all a net positive.

We are where we are b/c congress has refused to fix the immigration and guest worker problem for decades.

Now it's so over run with rot, decay, weeds and filth the only option is to burn it all down. That starts with removing everyone who is here illegally. Then we can build it back again.

Trump is just taking care of the mess congress has ignored for decades.

can't believe these people -- immigrants or green card holders or visa or whatever -- leave the country in the current immigration climate...with ICE operations in full swing everywhere

you can't do that -- gotta tell your friends and relatives: "I'll see you in a few years"

or during your next visit to the states

If they are Visa/Green Card holders, I have no issue with them leaving and returning. They're legally allowed to.

If they do not have proper documentation, I have no issue with authorities detaining/rejecting them.

I don't care how it's done. It's what I voted for. Deport them all. There is nothing questionable at all about the plan. You are probably one of those that has been gaslit by the left into believing that we can't deport "non-criminal" illegals.

So ICE is going in for a targeted dirtbag(s) and there are 15 other people that are caught up in it that are here illegally that didn't commit a crime (that is known). So ICE has to hold their own moral court right there and then and decide just because this illegal says they are a lettuce picker or a cancer curer or dishwasher that they now get to stay? I understand your concern, but what is your solution for an illegal that is here breaking the law that gets confronted by ICE gets to present their case why they are different than Maryland Dad or any other of the thousands of dirtbags on the Homan update thread?

Admittedly, I am not well versed in any part of the legal system, especially immigration law, but IF he was in legal standing with his green card status, what law did he really break to be detained currently? I don't know all of the details on why someone keeps a green card vs applying for citizenship, I just know he isn't a bad dude and if his GC isn't expired and he is here legally according to the paperwork he has, then what is the reason for being detained? Like I said earlier in a different reply, if he let anything lapse and expire, then it's on him and he should have taken care of it before trying to leave and re-enter the US.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if his paperwork/documentation is all in good standing, shouldn't he be let go to go back to school/work?

People who have broken no laws get detained all the time until their situations are sorted out. That said, you are taking this guy's word for it. Sounds like "the Maryland dad."

Surely you aren't trying to equate the confirmed MS-13 gang member that was human trafficking to a guy working on his doctorate at A&M that was traveling back from a siblings wedding. Was Kilmer Abrego Garcia here on a green card/work visa or did he enter the country illegally?

How did this Korean get in here, this whole back story has a massive hole in it. He supposedly came here when he was FIVE in 1990? How did he get here and under what status? He didn't get his Green Card until 2011, that's a 21 year gap we know nothing about, and Rusty Polesmoker didn't put it in his article. This Korean enrolled in A&M in 2007 and got his BS in 2011. What was his status for those 21 years before he got a Green Card? Green Card is only good for ten years, so his would have expired in 2021. ICE gives you a 90 day window from the date of expiration to file your I-90 renewal application. After 90 day you lose your legal status. ICE Sends out a letter to all Green Card holders SIX MONTHS BEFORE the Green Card expires REMINDING that the I-90 needs to be filed in a timely manner, The actual I-90 form is only 7 pages one sided along with 42 pages of instructions in seven languages.

Here's the ONLY puzzling part, why be here 35 years and never gained naturalized citizenship? THIRTY FIVE FRIGGIN' YEARS.

I am saying you have only heard this guy's claims, which is one side of the story and may not be true at all.

Regardless, if he's an illegal, he will face the consequences.

I will assume it occurred. Dude was held. All of the things that could make anyone twist in the wind did occur. This would be my reaction.

I am sorry there was an extreme abuse of power where millions of illegal were allowed in at your expense. Thanks for having a green card, you did it right. Yeah your evening sucked, but at least you can go home knowing the process worked.

Personal I would have as much empathy for him as I would for someone missing a flight.

Now; just like most of the time, there ends up being problems and the story isn't one sided. In that case….piss off. He deserved everything.

And most of all, it is insulting to think just because he graduated from ATM he gets some sort of brownie sympathy points. None. He gets none.

Looks like he was trying to hold on to Korean citizenship, and ICE is going to say No bueno.

Actually ICE would have to say "no bueno" in Korean.
