My dad's place is between Ingram and Hunt. Lots of damage including 7/9 structures on the property are gone. Prayers for all the people still missing including many of their neighbors.

Me and little bobinator were in one of the cabins in Kerrville Schreiner park and evacuated about 6 AM. By the time we were leaving the water was up to the cabins and still rising fast. Downed power lines blocked people getting across the bridge by the park and blocked 173 near the movie theater so we ended up having to drive through River Hills to get across there Louise Hays Park bridge which was only a couple of feet above the water also.

I've been through a few hill country floods but it's still shocking how fast they happen.

This is where we were:

Crazy how people who've lived here their entire lives still get washed away.

Prayers to all in the way of the water. I wish that woulda been spread out about 20 miles to the east instead of all on that one area. We coulda used half that on the Medina watershed too. I've had about 1" in Bandera.

Rain can be 20 miles upstream and seems to hit in the middle of the night more often than not.

It can go from a drought that seems like it will never end to a major flood in a couple of hours.

I've seen reports that Kerrville got 12 inches in 4 hours.

Lots of rain upstream too.

We are near Leakey on Frio and it rained all night and I was watching the massive storms to northeast towards Kerrville and expected to see the Frio flowing this morning but no change at all. Prayers for all those people as another huge blob of rain is headed that way right now.

Born and raised on the Guadalupe by Rust Falls and Rebecca Creek. Family lived there for over 150 years. Worst we ever saw it at our place was 1978. Got in our house 4' deep. House porch was 51' up from normal flow.
It was at the top of the bridge at Hwy 281 that night.
When that much rain falls that fast in them rocky hills it has nowhere to go but down them gullies and canyons really fast.
Just talked to my cousin who has had his place on the Guadalupe in Comfort since mid 60's. He said it's 4-5' in their house.
Praying for all the folks.

What many aren't realizing yet are those videos they are posting and wowing about the river level coming through Kerrville, that water contains peoples destroyed homes from Hunt, Ingram, and west Kerr County. Worse yet, probably some dead bodies as well.

I was on the phone with family in Hunt that escaped but they saw their upstream neighbors house was swept away and had four people inside, all college age.

Anyone have updates from Camp LaJunta? My son is there. The camp has communicated that all of the boys are fine and accounted for, but would appreciate any additional information anyone can provide.

Most of the old timers know what the rivers can do and have seen it and respect it.
It's usually out of town folks at the kids camps and vacation spots or folks that buy places that have no idea of what the river can do that get caught by surprise by flash flooding on the Guadalupe and Llano.

Man this is just brutal…

As gunny said above, rain in the hill country is just a scary thing. I've been stranded with only 6" of rain but with all of that elevation funneling water, it doesn't take much to wash out roads and hurt people. 12-15" in one night is like Harvey

My mom said she went to bed and it was not raining. Woke up to the main bridges underwater or close to it.

No power in Riverhill

She said the 4th of July event stuff was all setup in the park and now that's all washed away.

Prayers for everyone in the path….

I still remember the horrible flooding in Comfort in 87 that swept away the school bus trying to get out of the camp.

It's fine here in Leakey area. Drizzling still but all heavy rain is northeast. Would think Concan is good to visit.

I think the Frio is fine. If anything, the rain they have had may help a little.

The Guadalupe is the big issue. Even down in San Antonio we've only had maybe a half inch of rain overnight.

Yep, my parents are around the Long Mountain area in Mason and have received 14.37" so far. Still raining too.

There's no way the Llano isn't getting wild too.

Yesterday, the San Saba River between Mason and Brady on US87 was flowing 17 cubic feet per second. Right now, it is at 65,700 cubic feet per second.

Hoping everyone is safe. If you've lived in the Hill Country, you know how fast these rivers and streams can go from bone dry to raging torrents. This will dump a bunch of water into Canyon Lake (it's at 46% capacity at the moment).

Reminds me the old adage "The Hill Country is a persistent mild drought interrupted by intermittent floods."

I have family on the San Saba. They said the river is at 25 ft up right now. All that water is going into Buchanan.
Maybe the LCRA will let Travis get some water.

Yes, Buchanan gonna catch some water. I think they are predicting a crest of 32 ft on the San Saba. Much of that rain northwest of Mason fell in that watershed.

Holy shikes! I know several people that have houses across the street from Hunt store. That is unreal. Been going there for 45 years and never seen it get to Hunt store.
