Sorry to hear Bender. Praying for you and all impacted here.
No need to pray for me, but any you can spare for Johns family is appreciated.

Want to ask this question on this thread and not the other.
They have been talking about a dam breaking since yesterday morning just upstream from Mystic. Does anyone have any further details on that.
I know there are 100 dams big and small through that area. I have fished off several of them in my younger days. Just wondering where this one was and how much impact it had on this disaster.
Continued prayers for the victims and families

Lots of rain flowing into the Guadalupe below Canyon Lake. That will make it to Gonzales and Cuero.
He was such a good guy. Just an awesome family. Having a really hard time wrapping my head around this.BenderRodriguez said:
Since family has shared, I can share with yall.
They found my friend John, who was staying in an RV at HTR with his wife snd two sons.
He didnt make it.
They are still looking for the other three. His daughter was at camp (not mystic) and is safe and with family.
I am beyond gutted. He was an amazing human and the world is lessened by his absence.

Yea that's not it but I was explaining that risk to my son today. That's been a danger all through the region today. All that stuff builds up almost like a beaver dam then gives out and wham.
Also read your story and glad you got out. Must have been scary AF.

Been interesting monitoring fixed wing traffic in and out of Kerville.
Lots of TXDOT and DPS. Yesterday a pvt Cessna Citation that came from Long Island NY.
Now it appears a USCG Gulfstream. I'm guessing carrying Noem. Originated from Ronald Reagan.
It's doing circles. Assuming looking at river ...

My brother posted a message that a coworker of his in Kingwood and his wife and kid were found deceased. Very sad. He has taught in Kingwood for years so it is a good chance he is referring to the family posted earlier in this thread.
I thought the Feds reimburse for the expenses of TX Task Force (s)? That is why they get it declared as a federal disaster area.Independence H-D said:
Update from Texas A&M task force 1. Also, people who are looking to donate, the Texas A&M task force foundation would be a good place to do so.
We are extremely grateful for all of the Texas Task Force members who have been a part of the catastrophic flooding in the Texas hill country.
TX-TF1 members were deployed ahead of the flash flooding in several locations, including Kerrville, and have been active making rescues since the first rains fell. Over 175 personnel are working this event which includes searching for the missing and performing many rescues in several locations where flash flooding is still occurring.
Their dedication to serving other Texans is exemplary
Deployed members include:
- Texas A&M Task Force 1(TX-TF1)- A Type 3 Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) team with water capabilities- 53 personnel
-Texas Task Force 2 (TX-TF2)- A Type 3 Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) team with water capabilities- 46 personnel
-TX-TF1-9 Swif****er/Flood Rescue Teams with inflatable rescue boats- 76 personnel
-TX-TF1- Helicopter Search and Rescue Technicians (HSART), rescue swimmers who will partner with Texas Military Department (TMD) and US Coast Guard (USCG) aircraft- 9-personnel
-11-Search Canines
-27-boats in use between all teams

Posted something on F16 but felt like this deserved more reach so here it goes. I debated whether or not to post anything but please stay AWAY from supporting Operation Airdrop in this. They were specifically set up after Harvey as an org to use GA aircraft when roads were washed out - typically only for a few days to a week after a natural disaster. It made sense when that was the only way. It's obviously not efficient when the roads are open.
I worked with them in NC after Helene and they received so much money donated that they had leftover cash at the end of the week when they closed down air operations. Instead of passing it to a group that could use it and specialized in recovery like Team Rubicon or Samaritan's Purse, they started buying and distributing propane and RVs, among other non-mission centric activities. They brought on a new executive director after Helene who has quietly changed the mission to try to grift off any disaster he can and this one is no different. They have been repeating Kerr County updates in the first person as though they are deploying their own air assets and making rescues themselves, but they are not. Those were followed with requests for donations. The flack they got caused them to take those "updates" down. They are now asking for donations of money and supplies in north Texas and most recently have announced that they "have been asked" to coordinate and run the Burnet County relief efforts. They have also asked people to fly supplies into Burnet Muni and give more money so they can truck them further toward Kerrville. At one point they even said this will be a disaster recovery operation, which they obviously are not set up to do. Do not give to them. There are better orgs that aren't just looking to do some disaster tourism and take your money.
If you feel compelled to give, please give to a local organization in one of the impacted counties. Comanche Trace is coordinating a large supply drive, but there are others too. I just don't want people wasting time and money to help prop up someone's ego in North Texas.
HEROIC RESCUE yet absolutely harrowing to watch the footage of an elderly woman swept away in her vehicle during the Texas Hill Country floods. The water and debris trapping her car is chilling.⚠️
