That right there is selfless service. Never seen a video of a situation like that!

And where's the rope you'd need to tie everything together?Teslag said:Quote:

You basically answered it already. No time to do this with what's probably a lot of screaming and frazzled little girls, in the dark. From what i've gathered, they were basically trying to evacuate them to higher ground at the time and were inundated quickly. Tying them together and then trying to get them move as one unit is a tall order in those conditions. If one girl falls in what's probably muddy uphill conditions then all of them are hindered in movement.

Unreal how the conditions can change within 10-15 yards in that video.
We had/are having a prayer vigil at our church for one of our families that are among the deceased and missing. I noticed this gal a few pews in front of me that I did not recognize and during the service she stood up, walked over to the wall, and started taking pictures of those in the church. I thought that a bit weird but thought perhaps she was a family member. Though that would still be weird, who am I to say how someone deals with tragedy. Turns out she was with one of the local papers and was later told to leave. They truly are unthinking, bottom-feeding ghouls.BenderRodriguez said:The Fall Guy said:

Every day. Its all garbage.
Having to scroll by multiple reporters posting "im so and so with garbage news this, can you call me to talk about *missing loved one*" while looking for updates on missing friends has filled me with rage and loathing I didnt think I was capable of feeling right now.
Ghouls, all of them.
The tying of folks together was tried during the 1900 storm at Galveston by nuns at St. Mary's Orphanage. As I recall two or three of the sisters used clothesline to connect themselves with 8 or so children and they all drowned.swimmerbabe11 said:
probably a dumb question and ill probably delete.
I've been thinking about this a bunch, especially given the 100 yd swim that some girls did and the mattresses etc.
in my head, If I were a camp counselor, one of my priorities would be keeping everyone together. so like, daisy chain tying everyone's backpacks to each other or trying to tie/connect the mattresses etc.
I know what we are seeing is that there was little to no time for anything like that...but would it have even been a good idea had they tried to do so?
or would having two mattresses tied together make both more likely to hit something and flip etc
Because of this I am limiting myself to TexAgs only. I won't look at anything else. My daughters were not there and are safe and home with us, but are campers at Mystic. Words can't express how much I an so many others are leaning on this platform and the Aggie Community right now. Using TexAgs to filter the nonsence I am so thankfull that I don't have the anger to go with the sadness.BenderRodriguez said:The Fall Guy said:

No need to pray for me, but any you can spare for Johns family is appreciated.

Yes, I first heard Julia and one of the boys but was not comfortable with the source of that information. Then heard about Julia and was still not comfortable passing on that information. Finally a family member posted so felt the information was correct. Yeah, I heard about the dog and it coming home.BenderRodriguez said:one safe place said:Just wanted to let you know that a family member has posted that Julia's body has been found.BenderRodriguez said:riverrataggie said:

Thank you. Information has been all over the place. This morning I heard they had found Julia and the boys, now I'm hearing Julia but not the boys...
They did find their dog alive, and its heading home to be with their daughter. Some small comfort in that.
Been a rough weekend.
NEW: A citizen-operated drone collided with a search-&-rescue helicopter in Kerrville, Texas Monday, causing it to make an emergency landing, city says.

I have a drone and use it a lot. If you hit a helicopter with it your a freaking idiot and should be fined and maybe you won't fly one again. The recreation license is free and takes like an hour to get. AND maybe not fly one with helicopters around.
On the a swift water team. No we aren't deployed. So tying people together or tying anything onto yourself is a big no no in swift water. Our specially designed life jackets allow us to be tied onto a ring that's on our back but if we get trapped we have a tab we pull in the front that's called blowing out. It releases the whole ring from your back freeing us. Victims don't have this unfortunately. If you tie them together they'll all drown. Here are some words to live by with water.swimmerbabe11 said:

That drone operator is in deep *****
Fines and repairs to the helo.
I am curious too. On FB I saw a saw a pic of a Coast Guard helo on the story, but you never know if that was even what was hit.Naveronski said:
Posted in the other thread but asking here too: anyone have information on the helicopter that was hit?
