What size do You need? I have some 60/70/80/90 in Vail.
I'd have to check on boots.

Otherwise your best bet is the mountain town ski swaps. Little skis go quick. I'd rec having your own boots. You can get them at ski swap or online once you know the mondo.

Not sure I'll have to check on their sizes. There's a couple spots that do season rental or the epic shop trade in program.

Looking at going back out to Mt Hood Meadows this season. When is the earliest daily lift tickets go sale? I checked yesterday and they were unavailable.

Eager beaver. I pass at Meadows.

Mid-November I'd guess. Snowed last night: https://instagr.am/p/DOZJUthkv1Z

I waited too long to jump on flights, now it's cost-prohibitive to fly anywhere into Colorado for spring break with 4 kids. Going to make the drive to Red River and hope for snow. It will be the first time for our 7, 5 & 4 yo. At least lift tickets for 5 and under are free.

There's other places that have snow.

Avoid CO/NM during TX spring break. Fly into Reno. Northstar is 45 min.

Cheapest roundtrip flights to Reno look to be $2,750 for the family. Then rental car on top of that. We're not poor but at $3,500 in transportation expense, I think we'll opt for a roadtrip this year rather than fly it. Maybe when the kids are a bit older and experienced skiers we can justify spending the money.
ETA- Northstar's trail map looks great for my skill level but very difficult for my 3 beginners.

I feel ya on cost of travel. This is one of the main reasons I've been banking my United miles for ski trips after I inevitably move away from CO.

I still have a cache of Southwest points which we use to fly to CO (DEN-->Estes Park) in the fall each year since those non-holiday tickets are about 1/3 as much. But even that has recently gotten more expensive with Southwest's new pricing model that got rid of family seating for the Want-to-get-away fares. Now you have to pay more to make sure your assigned seat is next to your toddlers' or risk being bumped from your flight.

Her big sister (7) is ready to get her on the Magic Carpet.

We have three little ones too. We drive for spring break from DFW to Beaver Creek which is about 11 hours. Not terrible.

We fly on an off week to Park City Friday-Tuesday. And it's pretty economical. Just have to take the kids out of school which we do.

TQO to EGE - $445 round trip in late December and February. Not bad at all.

Damn.

Alaska still offers BOGO/Companion Fares (reduced ticket to $100). We have 4 every year between wife and I (personal + business CC for each). Only reason we keep them around is for flights back to TX to see fam. Well, now that they opened them on Hawaiian Airlines as well, TX fam can wait a year.

Maybe hit the FlyerTalk boards! And Northstar was just an e.g. of an easy place to get to (easier than I70). UT/MT/WA/OR also applies.

Good idea. I've got an Alaska card but need to sign my wife up for one now that my youngest has to have her own seat.
Cost over $2k to fly back to Texas in a month.

Hah. I'm working on a project for Indian Head Casino/Warm Springs. Cool little casino. Only been on weekdays for work though so haven't thrown dice there.
We go to Canyonville or Reno mostly now.

2/3 of my ride or die group from TX skis.

I've been hammering Reno/South Lake forever and they won't bite. You can stay at Caesars in Stateline and walk to Heavenly's Gondola in SLC. How is that not perfect?

Alright, we've got first season of actual ski racing coming up. I want to get my oldest a set of racing skis. Bayou, what should I be looking for? I'm hoping we can find a good used set at the ski swap, but I have zero clue on racing skis.

She'll be 7 right around the opening weekend and had been on 110s the last 2 years.

What type of racing? Each event has skis tailored for the specific characteristics of said event.

I'll probably be looking for GS skis that she can do slalom with as well. She's ready to move up to probably 120-122s.

Heavenly is a fun spot. BIL's uncle has a place there right next to the state park on the NV side and we got the chance to stay there last year.
