My coworker loved this place for the value & quality, and was sad the Katy location by her closed a while back. I never made it to the Sonic Shepherd location.

Agreed. It's a pain in the ass to get in and out of, especially with the steep exit to Chimney Rock from the parking lot.

There's a salad and go right outside my neighborhood in Katy. My wife goes there a couple times a week. Sad. I can't figure out what they will repurpose the building as. Hopefully it doesn't sit empty for long. It shares a parking lot with Starbucks so a drive thru coffee isn't likely

That's also a multi-use building - or was planned to be at least back when I was involved with it.

That's pretty much the norm for "casual dine-in" now, and not too far out from a fast food drive thru these days for a "signature" combo.

Gonna need a time machine if we want the Dirty's special.

*and those specialty burgers we're getting now (at other places) are usually a hell of a lot bigger than what I remember getting as a kid. Some of them are good for two sittings.

It is nuts what passes for a meal these days. Rarely do I not share. If I don't, it's something like oysters or i walk in there with knowing half will be lunch the next day.

And I'm not talking about the "fajitas for two" which is really fajitas for 4-5.

Y'all realize that those prices are like $1-$2 more than a place like Burger Joint and I think less than Shake Shack considering they're combos, right?

Don't know how it'll do, but prices aren't really egregious....

Heights definitely acts like they prefer mom and pop places but do they really?

Local Foods, Dish Society, Ike's, Good Co Cantina, Rice Box, Jeni's, Burger Joint, Velvet Taco, Hopdoddy, Loro, Bellagreen, etc. all seem to be doing pretty well...

Yeah but most/all of those are very small, local "chains". As was Grace's. I don't consider them "chains" in the same vein as Chotchkies and Flingers.

The Heights, like anywhere else, just really wants decent food at a decent price with decent service.

You miss out on one of those and you won't last long.

It doesn't really matter if it's a "chain" or not.

For every Goode Co and Dish Society there's Savoir along with Field and Tides.

There is the rent element as well but that's a slightly different variable.

Just provide decent food at a decent price with decent service and it'll likely last.
