Let this sink in..... We have 3 players on the field right now that are under the age of 20

I look at this set of players - and see big Gabi and Saliba back there. No worries, mate.

I have never been in The Emirates and seen an Arsenal club with this level of depth. If we can just run the initial gauntlet.

I don't wanna see Saka out for an extended time but we look solid with Noni & Max on the right.

Dowman isn't scared of 'nuffin.

Fwiw.... I saw claims from Swedish media a week or so ago that VG was named the PK taker by the team.

A) i can't believe how deep we are this year

B) I can't believe we're already leaning on it in Week 2

Really you can't believe we are leaning on it. This is typically arsenal

Madueke really impressed me

Madueke seems to be the logical replacement for Saka but who for Odegaard? Do we trust Eze one week into the system?

Today's win just felt different. Dont ask me why.

Leeds isn't good but we went for the throat.

Felt the same way. We watched our (arguably) two top players exit the field with some sort of injury, and with Havertz watching on the side nursing his injury. In week 2.

There was no panic. There was no "discombobulation". It was truly just a next man up mentality. Including as it was mentioned 3 players under 20 years old.

When VG scored goal, there was a shift in the swagger on the field. That monkey was off the back, and it seemed like the rest of the squad adopted the "it's on" mentality. I get the suggestion that the PK could have been given to Dowman, but I think it was the right call to fuel our new hired gun and get him humming.

Arteta seems willing to trust the bench and use our depth. The depth is deeper than I've ever seen. The squad seems focused. Could be a really damn fun campaign if we can navigate the early injury blows.

I really like the rotation of our outside backs.

Its either Eze or Ethan. I'm good with either. Bring Martinelli back in on the left to help defensively with Salah

Arsenal have received a boost after scans suggested neither Bukayo Saka nor Martin Odegaard have sustained long-term injuries following their early exits in Saturday's 5-0 win over Leeds United.

The north London side's head coach Mikel Arteta initially feared Saka had suffered a "significant" hamstring injury in the second half of the victory at the Emirates Stadium, while captain Odegaard also left the pitch clutching his right shoulder during the first half.

Sources with knowledge of Saka's and Odegaard's situation have said to The Athletic that the scans showed the injuries are not as serious as first feared.

While it remains unclear if the pair will be available to face the league champions on Sunday August 31, they are now not expected to be sidelined for significant periods.

Hale End FC 1-1 United.

You love to see the boys knock them back. Dear Fulham, would you like another Hale End Product.

Crossing my fingers Odegaard just has some shoulder pain and can at least get through a half. I think we'll want his work rate and his ability to direct the press.

Obviously, I want Saka to be available and I think he's our best attacker by a distance, but this feels like more of a "don't lose" game than anything and Odegaard maybe is more important in that sense.

I dunno. Maybe just doing some Saka Copium.

Yeah, I expect we will aim for Martinelli to go out there and run himself ragged for 60-70 minutes and then either Madueke or Eze come in for him and see if they can't get something past a tired Liverpool back line. Who that is depends on whether Odegaard can play.

Ooh me oooh me I know why!!!!!

We just kept rolling great talent off the bench onto the field. We are incredibly deep this season and it sure feels nice.

They are saying Saka is looking at 3-4 weeks out which would be Sept. 21st. There is an international break in there so he'd only miss 3 games. It would include Liverpool and Man City though

Also there were lots of rumors about Porto pushing hard for Kiwior. Unfortunately it sounds like a loan with obligation to buy ~35m. Wish some PL team would come get him for 40ish.

And then there is his replacement

chjoak

From what Ive heard, Kiwior wants to leave England. I dont see us sending him on loan even with and obligation. Leaves us no FFP room to get his replacement.

edit..... If we go for Hincapie, I would assume that Leverkusen would need a replacement LCB. Curious if there has been any discussion of a possible "swap" deal. Kiwior would do well in Germany and would have a higher level of competition to improve his play.

I know the Odegaard injury isn't thought to be serious but has there been word on how long he is expected to be out?

I can only find this:

Quote:

Gunners captain, Martin Odegaard, who was also subbed off earlier during the Leeds match due to a shoulder injury, is doubtful for the match at Anfield.

I've not seen anything specific. I suspect it is a pain management issue and it will be a gameday or near gameday decision.

I'm hopeful that with him playing another 20 minutes after the injury and them saying the scans were positive that its simply a day to day thing

Was hopeful Newcastle could/would use the Isak bs to serve as motivational fodder. Obviously not, and between Eddie Howe's coaching and Gordon's terrible decision which resulted in red, the tooners are probably going to be blown out in the second half.

Yeah, I thought Newcastle came out well but they're in trouble now.
