I know this is going to be controversial but watching Mexico, in arms as teammates, singing their anthem...I knew we were cooked.

Our soccer team will never have that comraderie and it makes me a little sad.

The country is being taught to hate itself. It's by design.

About the only true statement you have made tonight. Everyone is supposed to celebrate their heritage without fault…except Americans.

Everything I said is correct.

Yep. Well, maybe the UK too. But, the media fueled self hate is certainly unique and completely stupid. Imagine having the blessings of living in this nation, no matter what your tax bracket, and being brainwashed to hate it.

Yeah I said it's a very minor deal but man I just don't get great team "vibes" from the USMNT.

Guys did fight hard. Especially GGG Jr. Thought he was a total nepotism pick but he did well.

Definitely not a nepo pick. He's been playing really well this season.

He was absolute garbage in stoppage time.

I'm not mad about the result but mad at the lack of talent on this USA team. They have no idea how to play soccer.

Overall, we showed a pulse which is an upgrade from the complete DOA looking team it's been recently. Not hopeful for next summer, but there's still time, I guess.

It just sucks that we don't know what we have at all. Aside from maybe 2 positions, this was nothing more than a test of 2nd and 3rd stringers for us. When we do have the A team back, we have nothing but meaningless friendlies to get us WC ready. Meanwhile, the rest of the world has major tests and a lot more sample size to play with through end of year and into early next. We just have to hope we get a good draw and can use the group stage as our delayed preseason.

Pretty spot on.

I understand Pulisic taking time off and I understand McKennie, Weah, and Gio playing in the Club WC (and not sure why Musah wasn't on the GC roster), but I don't know when this squad is going to gel.

They're not a finished product and I unfortunately don't see that happening by next summer. But I'd love to be wrong.

soccer experts- should that have been a hand ball?
I get it not being called, but when it's that clear and obvious it's also really tough to see it and not have a pretty visceral reaction.

But he didn't gain an advantage, didn't play the ball, didn't change its course. But I mean, look at it!
This.

He was falling and it was his support arm. I get the outrage, but I also get why it was not called. Now, if he'd rolled or directed the ball with his hand (as in moved his hand/arm to move the ball), 100% it's handling.

That being stated, if it had been called I'm not sure there would have been a whole lot of complaining from the others side. It did look pretty bad.

Sargent and Musah are supposed to be on the move this summer, so I get why they're sitting out.

Forgot that was the case with Musah but good call.

Add to that injuries for Dest, Balogun, and Robinson and we've got what, 7 or 8 probable starters and a few heavy contributors not on the roster?

To be fair, maybe 4 of the starters tonight would be in the eleven, assuming full health, at the start of the World Cup. And several of the guys who weren't playing are the most talented guys in the pool.

Ugh. It was fun going to the match even though it played out about as expected as this Mexico squad was the most connected and possessing team all tournament. They're just better soccer players. They're skillful, they anticipate well and win almost every second ball, and they're quick. Jimenez finish on their first goal looked pretty great from my nosebleed seats.

USA showed exactly as they showed all tournament but vs a better team than they had faced all tournament.

Agyemang looked too slow and disinterested on every ball played to him. I think he has good hold up play at times but doesn't look hungry enough on the runs he should be making. He needs to be a dog and go win some of those balls where he looks like he's jogging.

Berhalter and Freeman probably shouldn't have been in the squad. Freeman isn't skilled enough and makes bad decisions. Berhalter makes too many bad decisions.

LDTL and Luna are skilled enough and make quick enough decisions and quick turns to be really useful midfielders. I think Luna played his way onto the WC 26 man roster during this tournament even though the final today was not his best.

Tillman played his worst game of the tournament.

Adams was not great all tournament long. Hopefully he's just not yet 100% because he's late and reckless on too many challenges and not making the best passing decisions. Doesn't look quick out there anymore.

The few times this squad was interested in keeping possession instead of playing kickball up the pitch, they're too slow to switch or recirculate, never skip a pass or make the big switch, and just take forever with too much predictability which invited pressure and giveaways. They can't break lines and keep possession. When pressure arrives, they can only panic and send it. Really ugly disconnected soccer and bad tactical awareness like they've never played together.

Richards is our best center back, but really he's outstanding in the air. Got his head in multiple attacking set pieces this tournament but also had some great defensive clearance headers. I think there was one tonight where he had time and space to drop a ball with chest so we could keep possession but he just loves his head so much and didn't have a plan and just headed it to Mexico, but that was just one decision. I'll allow it.

Arfsten might be the only left back in our pool besides Jedi that will make the overlapping runs and get some crosses in the attack transitions, so I want him to be good, but he can be a liability defensively and that's not acceptable. Who's our back up left back next summer? Vines? bello? Arfsten?

Sour grapes and Clay Travis level social media baiting. They didn't cheat. It was the ref who didn't make a call. The player wasn't intentionally trying to use his hand. I agree that it should have been called but again that's on the ref. Not "cheating."

And still, the US looked like pure crap in so many ways. Everyone should be much more sore about getting flat outplayed.

If agyemang could develop the physicality of a jozy altidore, he'd be a serious force, even with the puppy feet and slow soccer brain. Instead, he currently has the physicality of a 13 yr old girl

I think Poch really likes Haji Wright. And Balogan and Pepi are up there probably 1&2. There are others like Vasquez who are dogs, even is Sargent is forgotten. So I doubt we see Agyemang again as we approach the 26 man WC roster in less than a year. He had his chance to work his way into Poch's favor this summer and I don't think he succeeded.

What was the true split mexi vs us fans?

It felt like 85% Mexico. I really didn't even see US gear being sold, only Mexico. In Austin US gear was everywhere
Yeah, well……welcome to HTown

You couldn't be farther off. It was a handball. We deservedly lost. But we got concacafed in that moment.

I'm happy Poch said something. At least he cares enough to call out BS.

I'm honestly still more miffed about the weak foul call that led to their 2nd goal. Ref was so ridiculously inconsistent yesterday (to nobody's great surprise)

Do we still not have a clear angle of the second Mexico goal? I don't remember seeing anything definitive either way and I remain skeptical. Automated offside has people in an offside position far more than you would think.

I watched it frame by frame last night. The camera angle was perfectly in line and they were showing it in the postgame. He was on. Whoever was the defender inside had his legs wide apart and his whole lower leg kept the scorer onside.

Ok thanks. It was Freeman, I believe. Freeman had a rough time with his positioning all tournament.

On the handball no handball,
What do our resident referees think?

To me he was falling and the ball rolled under his hand. It would be the same as if he had his arm braced and it rolled into it.

I dont think that's a penalty.

I'd expect a lot of refs to award a penalty for a handled ball there

but I'd never expect a Guatemalan ref to award a penalty to USA vs Mexico there

as I heard it today, Christina Unkel can make a legal case as to why it's not a penalty. But, it is a penalty. Everyone knows it is a penalty. 99 other times it is called a penalty. But, those 99 other times are not Mexico vs US in a Concacrap final.

If you can make a legal case for it not being a penatly, it's not a penalty.

USA didn't deserve to win that match based on how poorly they played, but roles reversed, 100% chance Mexico is awarded a penalty for a handled ball in the box there. Even though center ref missed it (and shouldn't have), the fourth official would have had him on VAR immediately to correct an obvious mistake.

The inconsistency of calling fouls last night was mind boggling. You have no idea what to expect. Players (from both teams) were being whacked and no foul is given but someone falls down from a slight touch then it's an immediate foul. Ridiculous.

I mean, you can argue a hypothetical all you want, but it doesn't mean it's true.

And they did look at it on VAR I believe.
