Insane that a wealthy adult is dumb enough to try to get through airport security with weed.

In other news, the Mavs have now sued the Stars for being in breach of contract by not having their HQ in Dallas. Basically a pissing match where the Mavs have attempted to take full operating control of the arena and are withholding operating profit disbursements in order to force the Stars into paying for upgrades. I've heard all sorts of talk about the Adelson/Dumont crew being a ******** partner for the Stars to work with since day 1. This fits.

Ya it's 100% a PR stunt+colluding with the city to saddle the AAC on the Stars so the Adelsons can have their shiny new stadium.

I hate this. Can't believe Cuban sold the team to these demons.

And he didn't even get market value. Sold the fans and the city out with hopes of getting a cut of the gambling buck at some point. Hope he's on his deathbed before a check from that ever clears. I was 100% pro gambling in Texas, but these carpetbaggers have turned me 100% the other way.

Interesting strategy at play here by new ownership.

Trade hometown favorite Luka - piss off all the Mavs fans
Play hardball with the Stars over minor agreement about HQ location that has been in "breach" for 20 years - piss off all the Stars fans.

I'd say maybe they can **** with Jerry Jones next, but that would just make all the Cowboys fans happy lol.

Hard to have more disdain for Cuban throughout all of this. Hope they squeeze him out (which I'm sure they will) and he can sit at home and try to do a podcast to remain relevant.

Also - screw the City of Dallas - they are bending over backwards for the big shiny casino / Mavs development, while sacrificing the Stars. Maybe we can get Laura Miller in here to do some negotiating and just kick out all the sports teams.

Yeah, Cuban better have his lawyers going back over the fine print in his deal because if there is an angle for Adelson/Dumont to squeeze him, they'll do it.

As has been rehashed, the Adelson/Dumont crew divested from Vegas and no longer holds property there. They are interested in establishing casinos in undeveloped/under-developed gambling areas - like Dallas, not taking ops to Vegas. If Texas squashes their hopes of a casino, they'll just sell the team and make a tidy profit since Cuban stupidly sold for cheap.

Some details of the story, for those interested. It includes the 252 page lawsuit if anyone is interested in reading it. It could probably be done during free throw time at an NBA game given the increase in free throws this year.

ETA: I don't know if there is more or less free throws in the past. It just seems like it.

Pacers tonight with no Mathurin, Nembhard, McConnell, Furphy or Toppin, to go with Haliburton out for the year.

I don't even want to think of the vibes if we lose this one...

Just looks weird…he came into the game as questionable with an Achilles injury. Odd to me that they'd push a guy with his history to play, but, hey, they know more than me, right!

Gritty comeback win vs the Finals runners-up!
Flagg's first double double!
Brandon Puff Puff Williams with a team "high" 20 points!
Dwight Powell Time with a skrong 18 off the bench!

Things are looking up boys!

Remember when Nico traded the best player on the planet for Street Clothes. And the player that he had to have included was Max Christie and not Austin Reeves. Well Austin is averaging almost 36 points a game and willing the Lakers to wins without Luka or LeBron. Awesome!

Hard to understate the incompetence and ego at play here. Trading Luka for AD destroyed this organization, fanbase, and team for all of the reasons mentioned since that day. But holding onto AD at this point is just doubling down on your embarrassing mistake. The "problem" for Dumont is that if he does the smart thing (fire Nico, fire Kidd, trade AD) he is admitting his mistake within the same calendar year. That is too much of an embarrassing thing to do and his ego won't allow it. So instead we have to watch the Mavs pretend and talk like they are contenders, when in fact this roster makes no sense, can't shoot, and is mostly washed and injured.

In the meantime they inexplicably were gifted Flagg who may end up being great, but still too early to say for sure. They now have an impossibly small window now to build around Flagg by tanking hard again this year and pairing up a top prospect with him. The obvious things to do are to trade AD for some minimal value, buyout Klay, and frankly I would be open to trading anyone on the roster not named Flagg for future value, even Lively who I don't trust to stay healthy, and Kyrie. You have to do everything you can to be bottom 5 this year, last chance.

I'm guessing there are still AD trades to be made, but it won't bring much back in assets. Probably need to find a team with top 10 title odds with a few mid to bad contracts and a 1st round pick to give back. Either way, get this guy out of Dallas and get a GM with some kind of vision for how to fix this mess.

Yea trading AD to the Rockets before they got KD would have been the most obvious move to make once the Mavs knew they won the lottery. Imagine if this roster got Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks + #10 pick in 2025 draft.

Ugh Nico has already proven he's incompetent and the Mavs refusal to fire him is costing the team every opportunity to actually build a team. Once this year is over, we do not control our own draft pick until 2031...Cooper will be on his second contract by then.

This entire concept puts me in a bad mood. Now ownership is attacking the Dallas Stars, which has always seemed like a benign franchise, kept to themselves, and quietly and consistently built solid teams and a faithful fanbase.

Outside of Cooper Flagg, which this franchise clearly didn't deserve to get, is there one good thing to like about the Dallas Mavericks?

With this ownership group? I think it's basically just Flagg, Kyrie (a fan fav and actually force for good), and Powell (he's quietly been a great ambassador for the Mavs in the community).

The GM is a fraud clown, the owners are nepo baby dorks and our highest paid player is a porcelain paper tiger.

Then flip #10 to the hapless Pelicans for their unprotected 2026 pick instead of the Hawks getting that stupid deal.

Pelicans are 0-4 with the 29th offense, 29th defense, and 30th net rating.
