I'm fine with it. Will never fault someone or people for having a little pride and integrity.

I will, personally, lose my mind if we go from 6th to 8th for "integrity" lol

I don't think it matters all that much in all honesty. You can still move down relatively far in the 6 spot.

Im sorry but when Bagley hasn't played,Poulakidas has 30 and Nembh has 20 assists there's not much more you can do. I'm over it and don't care.

The wait until May 10th will be torture. Zero clue why they dont just do it like a week from now

Hard to be mad at being too good to make it to the 6th spot. There are NBA players deep down this roster.

Now it's in the hands of the basketball gods (and possibly Adam Silver).

See y'all on May 10th for the biggest day of our lives lol.

I know it's the last game of the season and hijinks tend to ensue but how often does a team get a 20-rebound game and a 20-assist game from a pair of undrafted benchwarmers?

And I say that with all due respect to Nemby and Cissa of course.

I'm all in on conspiracy theories with the lottery, I bet Silver puts you all in position for either Boozer or Wilson. Putting you 1/1 in back to back years seems unlikely, but moving up to 3 or 4 ensures you get one of the top prospects to pair with Flagg. Silver is not a complete idiot and realizes that Cooper could have a Larry Bird like impact in drawing in fans beyond his own market for demographic reasons, so the league has a vested interest in having the Mavs be the next young and exciting team to emerge.

A front court of Flagg, Boozer and Lively would be unreal to build around. I think you could easily solve the lead guard problem via trade, even if it's picking up a veteran as a stop gap.

Lol the lottery is not rigged. EY (the firm that audits the lottery) generates more revenue on an annual basis than the combined equity value of almost every NBA franchise. They aren't staking their reputation and business to ensure teenagers are going to good 'sports markets' for a business they could buy 10x over. Further, even IF EY could be cheated, the "moon-landing" logic would still apply; "why wouldn't any other franchise NOT blow the whistle if they thought they were being screwed?" The Jazz have been super tanking for half a decade and if they were to land 5th AGAIN so that Dallas could get a 'fun team', they would be screaming from the rooftops about Silver rigging it.

If it is rigged, the picks have to be

1 Brooklyn
2 Golden State
3 Chicago
4 Dallas

I don't think there's any chance of it being rigged

37% chance the pick is 9 or worse. If Flagg isn't ROY and the Mavs fall back in the lottery, I will need sports therapy to get over how the last month of this season was handled by the front office.

Not yet. They have to do the coin flip first. ~15% chance it's 9 or worse if they win the flip, ~37% if they lose it. As of right now it's a 26% chance.

One of the reasons I am not that worried is that because outside of getting a top 3 pick, the biggest areas we will get better next year is through free agency and trades. The 21 million dollar trade exception from AD and the 8.25 million dollar exceptions from Hardy and Exum are huge (6.25 and 2). I also think they're going to be wheeling and dealing with regular trades.

the last 2 months have been an absolute travesty for the sport. **** this version of the NBA. I fully expect them to do something even dumber trying to fix the tanking, regardless of the ideas we've seen floated. That's the way of big centralized governance after all.

I agree, there will be plenty of potential for trades this offseason. After the draft, we'll know where the team has depth and where the team will need to get better. Let's say we end up at 8 or 9, we'll draft one of the guards who will probably immediately be a backup PG/CG. At 30 we could draft a rotational PF or C.

Ideally we can hang on to Bagley, so the big men on the roster include Lively, Gafford, Cisse, Bagley, and possibly a draft pick. Obviously Gafford would be a trade piece in this situation.

Does the organization think Poulakidas is a cost effective Klay replacement? What does trading Klay Thompson even get you in return?

Love Max, but he probably needs to be a rotational piece rather than a big minutes guy, so the most glaring hole right now seems to be the primary 2.

Lots of ways it can go with how the draft plays out and who the organization hires as the GM and what their vision is for building a roster.

I'll put it this way; the players in the draft I think help us win significantly more games next year are Dybantsa, Peterson and perhaps Boozer. After that where we will get significantly better will be free agency and trades.

I just don't think Wilson, Acuff, and Wagler are increasing the win totals for NEXT YEAR all that much over a guy currently in the NBA who can be acquired for the 21M exception. Would still like to have them but don't think it's make or break.

Funny enough the guard I think could actually help us the most next year is Flemings strictly from a point of attack defense perspective. Would easily come in and be the best point of attack defender on the team.
Vessel

Kind of agree on Flemings and I'd add Burries to that. Burries is older, more physically developed, and he's already a strong connective guy who is one of the better defenders of the class. Burries could be on the floor with Kyrie, unlike Acuff, Flemings, Philon, and possibly Brown.

I still think Wagler would slide in to the starting 2 spot if we drafted him because I think his trajectory is pointed way up. He could/should put on at least 10 pounds of muscle over the next 5 months.

If we don't end up with Wagler, I'd bet we look to upgrade that 2 spot. i find it hard to believe that Klay and Christie being the top 2 options there going in to next season is appealing.

Also, if what I'm looking at on Spotrac is correct, we have about $55 million in space under the first apron. That is before re-signing Bagley and signing Cisse to a standard contract. Hopefully both of those guys combine for under $10 million.

I believe we will have access to the full MLE, as well.

I just hate that Burries basically rigged his high school class so that while he's a 'freshman' he's 2 years older than kids in his class. Like, he's turning 21 this summer. I will absolutely hate it if I have to talk myself into him.
Vessel
How long do you want to ignore this user?
For sure, but that's why I project a higher floor for the team this upcoming season if he's the pick. I think he has the highest floor of all the guards outside the top 4.

It would be a bummer to go through what we went through to have to draft an older, possibly lower upside player in Burries, but everything still says he's really good and can probably start helping right away.

And don't even start thinking about falling to 10... I know it sucks, but Yaxel is squarely in the mix at that pick. Would much rather have him than Ament.
M.C. Swag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
idk i think his 'high floor' is artificially inflated based on the built-in advantage of being physically 2 years older than most kids in his class. Imagine grading him against his actual age peers (Philon or Swain) and I don't really see much difference.
Tksymm7

Another thing to remember is that this is the NBA and it is still a draft. What I mean by that is teams make dumbass decisions about players all the time, or they draft for need over talent.

Good examples are Utah and Memphis. For Utah, do they really want to draft Caleb Wilson or Cameron Boozer if they end up in the 3/4 slot? They already have a ton of forwards on their roster even if you make some trades this offseason.

Memphis is the same way with guards. Do they really want to take Darius Acuff or Kingston Flemings when they already have Coward, Ja, Scotty Pippen Jr., Walter Clayton and Cam Spencer? Idk. Teams can be really stupid.

I saw that last year it was April 21 when they released who won the coin flips for lottery positioning. But I couldn't find a specific date for this season's tie breaker release date.

I guess we'll just randomly be told in about a week if we won or lost the tiebreaker.
