I can understand @mcuban's point that keeping Kawhi in LA would benefit a major sponsor, but Kawhi had just spent multiple years forcing his way to LA and making them sell the farm for his buddy PG13. It isn't like he was wanting to move home like he did in SA - he was home. 2/2.

Scammers scam ... But they scam to enrich themselves. In this case, Ballmer and Cuban want us to believe that they took in $50MM from Ballmer and turned around and have Kawhi $48MM in cash and stock and what does Aspiration get other than the $2MM left over?
Kawhi was getting over double what New Balance was paying him as their #1 featured athlete and Aspiration didn't even get a retweet.
So if they are scamming... What's the angle of giving Kawhi money for nothing? Kawhi wasn't threatening to leave LA. In 2018, if Kawhi was paid $48MM by HEB to do nothing as long as he stayed playing for the Spurs... That would make more sense. But this no show deal made no sense at all in any way.
