Looking more at Collin's performance the last three months, I think it was a pretty easy pick.
Even in his struggles he's 2nd in the world in strokes gained approach the last 3 months and 2nd best the last 30 days.

You can make a case that there are a couple guys who should have got the nod over him (a case even I've floated), but it's not a joke to take him. As pointed out a couple posts above, he's still one of the best tee to green players in the world. Throw in the caliber of player he has been historically and it makes sense. Doesn't mean there's no room for disagreement but it's completely justifiable.

Good major results last year, hot start this year. It's been a tough couple of months with the putter, but he hasn't fallen off as much as you'd think.

End of day, I think Keegan decided he can do more and be more active as captain than as player #11 making 2 appearances. As for Morikawa, he may not even play more than Sunday. That's fine. It's not like the NCAA tournament where the fringe teams make a difference for a couple of games. The bottom of the RC teams, I just don't see making a difference.

Now watch, Morikawa will play the last match on Sunday and it'll all come down to him.

There is absolutely 0% chance that Morikawa only plays Sunday.

Interestingly (according to ChatGPT) that has only happened one time in Ryder Cup history in 1999 and that year three guys only played singles.

That is one thing the Euros do
They aren't afraid to sit guys. They won't do the singles only, but they aren't afraid to only let you play one session with one of their studs and then sit you the rest of the time until singles.

One of their biggest advantages is only having to play 8 guys. Makes it easy to hide the bottom end.

I think he would've gotten picked, but it would've been interesting. Burns and Young just came on so strong at the end while he was fading. Of course the captains responsibilities might've hurt his play the last couple of months.

People coming out of the woodwork to ***** about Cantlay (he actually doesn't play slow, it just looks like it on TV). Or Morikawa, who isn't playing great but is still playing as good as a Euro like Lowry the last 3 months and has a crazy high peak ability.

Keegan hasn't been playing lights out or anything since his win a few months ago. This crew is the correct 12 so that Keegan can concentrate on being captain.

It'll be determined primarily by the players at the top as everyone has said anyway.

If you stack top to bottom (I put captains pick rookies at the end and predicted a few euro names), no way you take the Euro team's bottom few. Bolded the ones I'd take straight up right now, talent be damned. Need Spaun and English to step up and people like Cantlay to remain strong.
