That seems like a pretty good addition!

21% from 3-pt. range.
He shot 29% from 3 at Bowling Green. Then the following season at NC State, he barely averaged one single 3-pt attempt per game, with 21% completion.

He's a good addition in every other aspect. Averaged 20 Points Per Game at Bowling Green.

soph Juco stats:

pts/g 26.0 (NJCAA scoring leader)
fg % 49.7
3pt % 26.4
ft % 72.2
reb/g 7.5
a/g 3.9

Good addition, but clearly not a 3 pt shooter, but we need players to fill out the roster and he's pretty good in all other areas.

At this point we can't hold out for just guys who can light it up from 3

I bet Bucky sees his 75% free throw percentage and thinks he can turn him into a solid 3 point shooter.

I agree with this theory by the way

His highlights show a strong player getting to the rim and pull ups

Eh, this kid could pour in buckets from inside the line. Points are points.

Oh, I agree. Just saying not every player we get has to be a 3 point assassin

unless something changes w the NCAA rules in the next year, he only has 1 year left. The NCAA granted 1 extra year to former juco players who ran out of eligibility at the end of this season.

My main concern with him, at purely surface level examination, is whether he can play defense, or perhaps whether a more aggressive paced style would hopefully suit him better, because that's my main problem with his stat profile.

Interesting, and less wild than I thought. I thought they had decided JUCO didn't count at all and the players had a "right" to 4 years of getting paid NIL at a four year school. Thanks for the correction.

Apparently we're in the final group of teams for Rylan Griffen. Legit could not think of a more perfect fit.

Fingers crossed!

My understanding that the gist of the change was probably going to end up being that the NCAA had no standing to "start someone's 5 year clock" just because they started juco, so start ncaa, then back to juco, then back to ncaa no change in eligibility because the juco year was after clock started. However, juco years before ever first enrolling in an ncaa program, means eligibility clock starts when first enrolling in an ncaa program and juco years therefore dont count.

The granting of only a one year waiver is just a band aid that avoids all those players filing their own lawsuits until the ncaa appeal of the Pavia ruling gets denied.

If Pavia is not resolved Hill will likely get another waiver next year unless the NCAA actually wins and gets Pavia decision overturned, IMO

agreed it is just a bandaid but as of right now these guys only got 1 extra year.

I don't think it's as cut and dry as not counting juco years moving forward bc it isn't only about juco. It's NAIA also which are 4 year schools. So if NCAA can't count juco, neither can NAIA and NCAA can't count NAIA. So guys can play juco, then NAIA for 4 years and then NCAA for 4 years. It's a slippery slope for the courts just to say the NCAA has no say in eligibility of the athletes playing for their member institutions. You'll end up with a bunch of 30 years in year 10 of college. When athletes become employees, employers have a lot more say in what they can do.

A court has already ruled that Pavia should be eligible. Under that ruling Hill has two more years. If he doesnt get a waiver for his second year and wants to play he WILL sue the NCAA with facts supporting him that a judge has already ruled on. I marked Hill as having 2 years, because thats what hes gonna have unless the NCAA can somehow prevail in overturning that case.

That looks more like a pound it inside lineup than an up and down the floor lineup. I can't wait to see how our style of play unfolds. It's exciting.
