No, but it's crazy for more than half of the first round picks come from high school.

A Rangers exec mentioned low confidence in the "proven products" in this draft compared to their cost. He predicted teams to take players in unexpected positions and bigger names sliding due to these cost savings.

ETA: This was during an interview last week in Round Rock

Not really. I think there were 16 in 21 & 14 in 22. There have been at least 10 high schoolers drafted 1st round going back years.

The reason I asked if this was your first MLB draft is because that is pretty normal. It's usually around 50/50 giver or take a few depending on the year
