"The Bear" Season 4 marks an improvement over its predecessor. With more focus on sidelined characters like Sydney and Marcus, it makes some progress. But it still feels like a do-over, circling back to unfinished business. And after letting audiences go hungry for so long,… pic.twitter.com/5o37ypj2bq

‘The Bear’ returns for season four with a dull series of episodes that “highlight the show’s worst tendencies,” writes VF's chief critic @rilaws, and doubles down on “the problems that have plagued it from the very beginning.”

On episode 5 now. This thread seems dead, considering its 5 days post season drop.
Season 4 seems mid. Similar complaints in Season 3 about boring filler episodes.
Episode 3 was really good. Worms was an unnecessary waste of time.

The Bear: the show that fell in love with the smell of its own farts?
Still going to complete it because I like the score story and most of the characters and the potential is still there.
You hit on something here. For those of us who watched the Feast of Seven Fishes and had childhood flashbacks, this show hits us in a very deep spot.AJ02 said:
I guess I'm weird, bc I loved season 4. Yeah, it was introspective and dialogue heavy, but it all resonated deeply with me. The background and struggles of the various characters....it felt like the writer had lived my life for a lot of it. I was blown away by the little things that the writers picked up on. Stuff that probably didn't even register for most people who didn't experience a childhood like Carmey had. Like Lee when he was just about to say "you should go visit your mom", and he stopped just short. And Carmey later thanked him for not saying it. That hit deep for me.
