Based on your politics posting history it's amazing you can post this with no self awareness.

Seeing what the conservatives on this board assume about me is both entertaining and a depressing indictment of just how rare critical thinking skills are.

It appears that South Park had a more direct approach to the administrations dealings with Paramount

Well South Park had a say. This is crazy,
If you just want to watch the last five minutes, the basic set up is that the school tries to go anti-woke to please the admin, Jesus shows up to enforce the message. Randy gets angry that Jesus is in their school and organizes a protest. But the last few minutes are really over the top, even by South Park standards.

Incredibly amusing that some are obtusely defending a curated Kamala interview done by the same media who purposely lied and obfuscated Bidens mental health issues through a literal mass media effort in collusion with the Democrat party to keep Trump out of office.

But, yes, talk to us about how Kamala's interview was just normal editing for efficiencies and that there was no ulterior motive there at all. None.

Yep. It's not, there just has to be balance.

As a lot of people have said, Colbert's show wasn't cancelled because of Trump. It was because it was losing a ton of money because he was so one-sided. I'm not a big fan of Stewart or Maher, but they rip on just about anyone that deserves it and I'll watch them from time to time.

You would think that the nosedive that the Daily Show did when Trevor Noah kept up his "Trump, Trump, Trump" stuff and people stopped watching that they would have learned their lesson about being one-sided.

Nope. Typical show business being out of touch and living in a bubble.

I realize that John Oliver has zero credibility among a number of posters here, is nothing more than a liberal shill, etc, etc, but he absolutely brings the receipts in the segment below, re: Trump's suing of Paramount/CBS/60 Minutes, showing just how stupid and unjustified the whole thing was, to rgvag11's point. It starts around the 13:44 mark, but the whole thing is worth watching...

I have no dog in this fight. I never voted Trump. Far from it. But I have some time to burn and wasted it on this thread for the lols.

I tuned in at the 12 minute mark. The receipts, in order:

My conclusion:

  • CBS did manipulate the answer. They used the first sentence in the preview. The second sentence in the actual aired take. This wasn't a time saving edit. If that was reason they would have used the first sentence (both chronologically + they aired it in the preview).
  • CBS refused to release the entire interview. They refused to release the transcript (only doing so in Feb of this year). They did themselves no favors.
  • The Fox massage: the edit is sequential. The video is 11:40 minutes of highlights from a 1 hour and 20 minute interview. But, Fox put them out at a day apart: Jun 2 and 3. They did not slice an answer, just stopped it short.
  • You can't equate the two.
This will be my only contribution. I've wasted enough of my life on this nonsense. I've never watched Colbert. Conan gang for life.

Edits: Why won't my emojis work mid-sentence, TexAgs? Taking them out.

How did CBS' edit alter the substance of Harris' answer?

Fox's edit DID alter the substance of Trump's answer by making it appear that he would release the Epstein files. Fox did not broadcast his full answer either -- they posted it online. In contrast, CBS broadcasted Harris' full answer, albeit in parts, part of it in the morning on Face the Nation, and then the other part in the evening on 60 minutes.

You could not define the "substance" of the answer until nearly a year later when the transcript was released showing the full answer. At the time it literally was two different answers as you didn't know the entire reply.

In contrast the full interview from Fox was released the next day.

So this response in the 60 minutes interview had no substance to you...
MR. BILL WHITAKER: We supply Israel with billions of dollars in military aid.
VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: Mm-hmm.
MR. BILL WHITAKER: And yet Prime Minister Netanyahu seems to be charting his own course. The Biden Administration, the Biden19 Harris Administration has pressed him to agree to a ceasefire, he's resisted. You urged him not to go into Lebanon, he went in anyway. He has promised to make Iran pay for the missile attack,
and that has the potential of expanding the war. Does the U.S. have no sway over Prime Minister Netanyahu?
VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: the work that we do diplomatically with the leadership of Israel is an ongoing pursuit around making clear our principles.
MR. BILL WHITAKER: But it seems that Prime Minister Netanyahu is not listening.
VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.
MR. BILL WHITAKER: Do we have a real close ally in Prime Minister Netanyahu?
VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: I think, with all due respect, the better question is do we have an important alliance between the American people and the Israeli people. And the answer to that question is yes.

And this response in the Face the Nation teaser, that aired before 60 minutes, had no substance to you..
MR. BILL WHITAKER: We supply Israel with billions of dollars in military aid.
VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: Mm-hmm.
MR. BILL WHITAKER: And yet Prime Minister Netanyahu seems to be charting his own course. VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS:
the aid that we have given Israel allowed Israel to defend itself against 200 ballistic missiles that were just meant to attack the Israelis, and the people of Israel. And when we think about the threat that Hamas, Hezbollah presents Iran, I think that it is without any question our imperative to do what we can to allow Israel to defend itself against those kinds of attacks. Now, the work that we do diplomatically with the leadership of Israel is an ongoing pursuit around making clear our principles, which include the need for humanitarian aid, the need for this war to end, the need for a deal to be done which would release the hostages, and create a ceasefire. And we're not going to stop in terms of putting that pressure on Israel, and in the region, including with other leaders in the region, including Arab leaders.
MR. BILL WHITAKER: But it seems that Prime Minister Netanyahu is not listening.
VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region.

But this one does have substance to you?
13 MR. BILL WHITAKER: We supply Israel
14 with billions of dollars in military aid.
15 VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: Mm-hmm.
16 MR. BILL WHITAKER: And yet Prime
17 Minister Netanyahu seems to be charting his own
18 course. The Biden Administration, the Biden19 Harris Administration has pressed him to agree to
20 a ceasefire, he's resisted. You urged him not to
21 go into Lebanon, he went in anyway. He has
22 promised to make Iran pay for the missile attack,
23 and that has the potential of expanding the war.
24 Does the U.S. have no sway over Prime Minister
25 Netanyahu?
7
1 VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: Well,
2 let's start with this. On this subject, the aid
3 that we have given Israel allowed Israel to
4 defend itself against 200 ballistic missiles that
5 were just meant to attack the Israelis, and the
6 people of Israel. And I think that is the most
7 recent example of why what we do to assist in
8 their defense around military aid is important.
9 And when we think about the threat that Hamas,
10 Hezbollah presents Iran, I think that it is
11 without any question our imperative to do what we
12 can to allow Israel to defend itself against
13 those kinds of attacks.
14 Now, the work that we do diplomatically
15 with the leadership of Israel is an ongoing
16 pursuit around making clear our principles, which

21 of putting that pressure on Israel, and in the
22 region, including with other leaders in the
23 region, including Arab leaders.
24 MR. BILL WHITAKER: But it seems that
25 Prime Minister Netanyahu is not listening. The
8
1 Wall Street Journal said that he -- that your
2 administration has repeatedly been blindsided by
3 Netanyahu, and in fact, he has rebuffed just
4 about all of your administration's entreaties.
5 VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: Well,
6 Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in
7 a number of movements in that region by Israel
8 that were very much prompted by, or a result of
9 many things, including our advocacy for what
10 needs to happen in the region. And we're not
11 going to stop doing that. We are not going to
12 stop pursuing what is necessary for the United
13 States to be clear about where we stand on the
14 need for this war to end.
15 MR. BILL WHITAKER: Just one last
16 thing. Do we have a real close ally in Prime
17 Minister Netanyahu?
18 VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS: I think,
19 with all due respect, the better question is do
20 we have an important alliance between the
21 American people and the Israeli people. And the
22 answer to that question is yes. And we are going
23 to do what is important to support whatever
24 leadership is in Israel, that is defending the
25 security of the State of Israel.

That sounds like a comprehension issue.

I think all of this is way overblown, but the reality is that presidents have a bully pulpit and they often use it.

I won't go into detail here since this isn't F16, but you can find plenty of examples of presidents -- both Democrats and Republicans -- using their power and authority to force "unfair" change in the private sector.

If Trump suggested that perhaps Paramount would be better off without its late night show, well ... he's just following in a long line of presidents using their unofficial power.

It seems silly that people's panties are in a bunch over a washed-up comedian who makes $15 million a year and can keep earning that money for another 10 months. I'll take a deal like that.

Pretty sure he is saying the substance was unknown to the public because CBS wouldn't/didnt release transcripts for quite some time opposed to Fox, not that one interview contained more substance than the other by the poster's standard. There wasn't the opportunity to compare the edited vs unedited version from CBS to determine how/if they tried to help her because of this.

Love it when trying real hard to be a smart ass on the internet back fires in a very ironic way.
