Ideally, the US House should switch to proportional representation (within each state) so that redistricting isn't a thing.

But as long as it is, I want Republicans to out-gerrymander the Democrats.

All of the liberal beta boys being upset makes me smile. They didn't say a word when 2020 was rigged and when Kamala was installed without a primary. Lol at all you with the vapors. Bunch of children.

I hope Republicans rig the **** out of this. Democrats are hypocritical masters at this and will never stop doing it so fight fire with fire. Since Texas and Florida are the only bulwarks keeping this country normal, they need to be fortress states.

Ignore the far left crying over this. They have already ruined California, New York, Illinois, Minnesota, Washington, and Oregon. Rig it so they can't ever get elected again, here.

The only legitimate reason for Pastor Woke and his buddies to be in Illinois is to lobby their legislature to reverse the Illinois Democrat 82% Congressional Seat gerrymander on a 54% Harris vote. Four seats should just about do it.

NY Democrats are actually worse than that.

They tried for a 22/26 85% map in 2022, but screwed it up through their own arrogance when they couldn't be bothered to submit backup maps for the courts to consider.

SOP for those POS

2003: Texas House Democrats traveled to Oklahoma to prevent a vote on a congressional redistricting plan. Later that year, Texas Senate Democrats also left the state, going to New Mexico. Both efforts ultimately failed to stop the redistricting maps from becoming law.

2021: Texas House Democrats went to Washington, D.C., to block a bill that would have placed new restrictions on voting. This standoff lasted for more than a month, but the bill eventually passed after repeated special sessions.

Texas has been trending blue for a while. This is clearly a reaction to a very legitimate concern that the actions of this administration are not being received well by the public. The fear is obvious and justified.

I'll gladly accept everyone's lol comments.

lol. People have claimed Texas is trending blue for 20 years and it gets more red with each election. Even the valley is trending red.

Gerrymandering insanity is killing this country. Based on the popular vote in statewide elections Texas should have 4 or 5 more democrats in the house. And all of them should be more beholden to all of there constituents.

Instead you get monstrcities like what Trump is signing today.

So when have any Democrat listened to their constituents when each and every one of them is only loyal to the Party.

LOL

Even blacks and browns are voting more R than D now. We've seen how Democrats try to keep us on their plantation, by any/all means possible.

As mentioned above, even the Valley went red this last election. Wishcasting isn't a facts-based datapoint.

So will we have more Dem arrests?

It's sort of funny. They threw out the institutions of justice in order to get a mugshot of Trump, get him in court and ultimately try to get him in handcuffs / imprisoned.

Then they witness that each action increased his popularity and his cred. So what do they do know? Keep pushing for their own mugshots and perp walks.

Except they are actually breaking laws whereas Trump follows them.

God Dems are terrible people.

The numbers in 2024 are about the same as they were in 2008 with a 10-12% gap. There were a couple of elections where it got to about 6-7%, but with the valley trending red and new voter ID requirements and limitations post-2020, I don't foresee that "trend" going anywhere further.

So a 20 year trend slightly unwound by a lackluster democratic candidate.
This Redistricting is pretty clear indicator that they aren't happy with the way things were going.

Not at all. They see an opportunity like the Dems usually only see (or at least act on) to use legal methods to give your party the best representation in government.

Nothing new here is being done… other than a rare occasion of Rs having a nutsack.

But it's not just Kamala. Cruz crushed his 2018 performance with his results in 2024. Democrats still haven't won a statewide race in over 25 years for anything. The Texas state house is even getting red. And you combine that with the valley going red and the idea that Texas is trending blue is sheer ignorance based on nothing but blue hopium.

This is simply an effort to counter what democrats have done in California and Illinois in a deep red state (Texas).

This redistricting is a reaction to what happened in California, NY, and Illinois when they redistricted. The 2020 census should have resulted in more seats in red states, but the deep blue states blunted that by going to 75%+ D seat maps. This is just a reaction to that. And that "20 year trend" is made to look worse than it really is because it starts with GW's elections where he had a natural advantage in Texas. The D's open borders and trans agenda hard left turns really badly hurt them in the valley. The migration from California is slowing down and the Valley is not going back to the dems as long as they stay insane. No reason to think that trend continues.

What would you call this redistricting then?

Either everyone gerrymanders or no one does. Republicans owe it to their constituents to push just as far as the democrats in blue states do.

Democrats haven't won a statewide race since 1994 when Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock, Attorney General Dan Morales, Land Commissioner Garry Mauro and Comptroller John Sharp all won reelection. Trump's 13.7% margin was significantly greater than his single-digit margins in 2016 and 2020. Trump significantly outperformed his polling averages in the state and became the first presidential candidate to win Texas by double digits since 2012, reversing the trend towards Democrats that Texas had exhibited in the two previous presidential elections. Cruz ultimately outperformed polling and expectations and won re-election by 8.49 points, improving on his 2018 margin by six points and flipping thirteen counties.

These trends indicate that Texas is back to being a solid Republican state, but we must not become complacent. The redistricting of U.S. House districts is nothing more than Republicans doing what the Democrats have done. It's insane how the Democrats claim they are redistricting for the people and claim Republicans are redistricting for power control.

Redistricting for the sake of gaining seats is anti democracy. Not sure what breaking quorum does long term but this power grab should be looked down upon by anyone who votes. The seats are supposed to rep the public.

Says the poster that didn't call out California, Illinois, or New York...ALL OF WHICH are much more gerrymandered.

CA is 83%-17% Dem
IL is 82%-18% Dem
NY is 76%-24% Dem

All three states voted between 54% and 58% Dem in the last POTUS election...

So...you DO agree that those three Democratic run states are ANTI-DEMOCRACY, right?

Or...how about Maryland...they're 87.5% Dem even though Harris only garnered 62% of the vote.
