I already secured mine through Walmart. Was curious and just added one to cart now. Didn't complete the purchase but seemed like I could have easily. FYI for anyone still looking for one.

Thank you, random TexAgs user! The MKW bundle wouldn't go through, but I was able to get a standalone console, pro controller, and a copy of MKW preordered!

You're very welcome. What I've read recently is that Walmart is allocating units by regions around stores. How that's grouped and organized who knows. Depending on your area there may or may not be any availability left.

Has anyone seen the Joy Con 2 controllers and charging grip available to preorder anywhere? I wanted to have an extra pair so I'll have 4 Joy Cons with mouse controls for when we eventually get Mario Party Jamboree.

All the retailers are cancelling bot/duplicate orders so they'll keep opening back up.

Currently weighing whether it'll be worth it to trade-in my old Switch at GameStop for $90. (As a standalone trade-in once my Switch 2 comes in.)

My only concern is that not every single Switch game may play correctly. (My main concern is Alien: Isolation as that was listed in the games that "start on Switch 2" but have issues.)

But also, $90 is barely enough for a Pro controller, so I'm not sure if it's worth it. Especially since I'd have to give up a pair of Joycons.

Thoughts?

Put the new switch in your living room/ game room and put the old one in the bedroom.

Doesn't seem worth it to me. I'm handing down my current switch to my soon to be 6 year old as a handheld so he can play it periodically. I'll hook the switch 2 up in my media room so I can make use of the 4K.

That's all they're giving? That sucks. Granted, once I get the Switch2, I doubt i'll ever need my old switch again. I'll keep it for a bit, though.

I sold my old switch on Facebook for $200.

Might try that, see if I can get $150.

I'd keep it. I still have my NES, SNES, N64, and Wii and still play them from time to time.

I'm keeping my Switch. I usually keep all of my Nintendo consoles. I feel like it's not worth much to bother selling because of the age, battery, joy cons have drift, and kickstand is broken.

I still have my original NES from 40 years ago in a box down in the basement. Feels like every system I've gotten rid of at some point I regretted it so I'll probably hang onto the original Switch. Gamecube is the biggest one that I miss playing. I'm hoping Switch 2 does those games justice but I'm holding off on buying the Gamecube controller until I hear whether that's worth it.

I'm fleshing out my game wish list and placing pre-orders and have admittedly been late to learn about the key card scheme that it seems many 3rd party developers are using for physical POS.

I'm a bit confused as how this scheme has any advantage over a true digital purchase. It strikes me as it was designed to allow 3rd party publishers alongside retailers to have a physical POS option but forgoing the expense (and maybe supply constraints?) of needing a larger capacity game card and pushing that expense onto a unknowing customer? FWIW, I read somewhere that CD Projekt Red was the only 3rd party publisher to commit to selling game cards with a complete copy of the game which I can only interpret is CD Projekt Red trying to distinguish itself from the crowd and gain good well.

I was about to pre-order Street Fighter 6 but held off when I saw that it is a key card and I would still have to download the game (~50GB).

Can anyone share why buying a key card version of a game is better than just buying a digital copy?

Also has anybody heard when higher capacity (512GB / 1TB) MicroSD Express cards might be widely available? Seems GameStop and Lexar are the only ones that sell them and both are unavailable at the moment.

The official stance is that a digital only game cannot be loaned, sold, or given away. Having the key card lets you do that if you decide you don't want the game anymore.

I definitely see it as the worst of both worlds. You have to download the full game AND have the card inserted. Granted, I don't get rid of many games, and the amount you can usually get from used games is pretty minor anyway…

For me the ideal scenario would be having an option to get the physical box sent to you for free when you buy a digital game.

I just like having the physical boxes on my shelf.

$35-40 isn't exactly minor, make that $45-50 with Nintendo's new pricing strategy

Maybe I should look at offloading some old games afterall! Where are you getting that much for used games?

I sell through Facebook Marketplace or eBay. Had good success on both. You'll get more than you would through somewhere like Gamestop, and buyers don't have to pay as much as they would at Gamestop.

Ebay usually - since Nintendo doesn't ever seem to discount their games, the used games market online tends to be pretty good. Yeah, it's a hassle to sell on ebay, but you'll get paid a lot more than a Gamestop trade-in.

I haven't, but Nintendo was pretty open that they're sending them out in waves, and may not get through then all until after launch. If you met the criteria, it's probably a matter of when you registered your interest that determines when you get one. They haven't said if they're doing that or a lottery.

Nope - sounds so far like only people who registered within an hour or 2 of the Nintendo Direct have received them. If you waited until after 4/2 to "register interest", plan on waiting for a long time.

Best luck I had was contacting a local game stop and they still had a bunch of pre orders available. I bet there is still some out there.

I think my current Switch tops out at 50 mbps download speed, which can be annoying at times. Does anyone know what the Switch 2 will be capable of?
Cloud
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Wired or wireless? Either way, the switch is capable of faster speeds than 50 mbps

Wireless. I've got two Switches on different high speed networks and both can only get to 50 or so. Wonder what I'm doing wrong.

Is it just me or does MP4 look like a game that should have released 15 years ago?

I don't see this selling well. Hope I'm wrong

The cinematics look pretty amazing in 4K/60.
