I'm watching the Beckham & Friends broadcast for some reason, and of all the people in the world, James Corden asked a question earlier in the 2nd half that I thought sums up things pretty well:

These guys have played their hearts out. Not on them that the front office didn't do what they needed to do between seasons. Not on them that the depth isn't there.
Hopefully the purse strings open up and Arsenal adds depth in a big way for another run.

Biggest issue we have at Arsenal is a lack of quality depth and if you go back and look at the transfers under Arteta, there have been some good ones and some absolute whiffs. Prime example. Vitinha moved to PSG the same window we bought Fabio Vieira and PSG paid less than 7m euro more.

what an embarrassing showing both legs. It wasn't for lack of chances....just no ability to finish.
First quarter of each of the semifinal matches was the difference. One club finished their chances and one didn't.
that was the last glimmer of excitement for this season. gonna be a long few weeks to end the season and off season.

Agreed. Feel like we would be better getting a cheap (or free) vet that is good for 10-15 games across all comps and concentrate on developing all the u21 GKs we bought in the last 2 yrs.
Edit..... also saw yesterday that we are trying to buy a u18 GK from Chelsea. Supposedly offered 1.25-1.5m and got rejected. Wouldn't be an Arsenal summer without adding a GK, LB or CB.

Backup goalkeeper is the most important position in the squad, or so it seems based on the last few years.

Well it sounds like the Zubi deal is done. I have no idea what direction they are gonna go with for ST, but something has to be done.
I'm really not sold on Williams. He had a great Euros this past summer, but other than that he's just as inconsistent as Martinelli and his wage demands would make him close to the highest paid player in the squad on top of his transfer price.
Also sounds like we want Huijsen from Bournemouth for CB, but so does everyone else.
- Isak is what everyone wishes would happen, but its not going to so just cross it off the list.
- We did a ton of initial work looking at Sesko, but really seems to have cooled off
- We need to move quickly if we want Gyokeres because so many clubs are interested

- Rumors suggest that Berta really likes Gyokeres but there are no fully credible info indicating we have decided to go for him. Personally think he is as likely as any other ST linked
- Personally don't see Nico happening. His release is doable but salary demands are insane (rumored between 300-400k/wk) for such a young player. I think we sign a LW but it will be a lower priority because we technically have 4 W (Saka, Marti, Nwaneri, Trossard) under contract

Any word on us selling Big Gabi or Kiwior?
Nothing about efforts to sell either. Not seen any links for Gabi outbound but I have seen Kiwior linked to Inter & Juve. I've also seen claims that we are trying to extend Gabi.
MO can't be a starter going forward.
