Willian & Sterling were free otherwise the fans would likely be worse right now.
Jorge was decent for us but he was basically a 31yo squadie that we paid 12m for
A big part of the issue for me is that Chelsea is (was) actually in a difficult financial situation. They've exceeded the UEFA squad cost ratio which resulted in a fine and the inability to register players for Champions League next year unless they do 60 million pounds in player sales. So they're desperate to sell players. Every club knows they are desperate to sell. All you have to do, is be patient, wait until the end of the window, and then buy at cut rate prices.Ghost of Andrew Eaton said:
Why does it matter where we get players from? I'm not saying you care, I'm just trying to understand.

I don't know where y'all are buying those rose-tinted glasses, but Sideshow Bob was terrible. He averaged a red card every 13 games and gave away a penalty every 6.5 games while he was here. That is Mustafi/Squillaci levels of awful.

He may be a rockstar for us but I think fans are getting tired of constantly going to Chelsea for players. There are 100s of club in Europe we could buy from and we keep buying from a direct competitor that is in FFP/PSR trouble. Add to that that we spent 50m on a player that they purchased for 30m and while he hasn't been bad he hasn't done anything to justify an additional 20m from us.
That said, some of the reaction is significantly overboard.

It's posturing. It might also be true Sporting is sincerely pissed off, rightly or wrongly, and it will contribute to slowing down the deal. Arsenal really need to get this done sooner rather than later, this is a win now signing and we don't have time at the beginning of the year to get Gyokeres up to speed
