In. Let's get all these signings in.

I had to turn off the post game after 15-20 minutes. Did they do anything for Trent as far as a thank you after the game like they did for Milner and Matip and such in the past?

Not that I saw. But I did see they gave him the framed jersey at the last training session. I imagine they didn't know what the reaction and reception would be, so they did a preemptive thing in house instead.

He was applauded at the end, I didn't see much negative reaction after the final whistle. As it should be. Deserved a proper send off. But he can go f*** off to Real Madrid now and I hope he has a miserable time.

Meanwhile Liverpool look to the next chapter. Frimpong looks like the man selected to compete with Bradley for the RB position. Kerkez looks set to be brought in to reinforce the LB position. I would imagine that means the end of Tsimikas's time on Merseyside. And the crown jewel of the summer window looks to be Florian Wirtz. Don't get me wrong, he is a sensational player and makes every team and every player around him better. But the price tag is going to be enormous and if Liverpool want to splash that kind of cash, I would still go for a poacher in front of goal. The numbers being talked about would pry Isak away from Newcastle. That is who I would go for. Even offer Darwin as a tradepiece too. Although it sounds would recoup a lot of what we paid for him by selling him to the Saudis...

As YNWA said, they did the jersey/speech to him in the last training session.

In hoisting the trophy after the CP game, Trent got the loudest ovation when they were mentioning the individual players to get their medals. He was cheered loudly every time he was at the Kop celebrating and kissed the LFC badge multiple times. He also cried heavily for a good while with his family on the field and other times.

But onwards and upwards to next year with awesome signings already in the works and more to come perhaps. Kudos to FSG, they didn't spend in the last 2 transfer signings (minus Chiesa for peanuts) and now going all in.

Ended up getting 10mm gbp to let Trent go to cwc with Madrid. Much better than the free or $1mm that Madrid started at.

Frimpong is done. Kerkez is almost done and they are still negotiating the price and/or player for Wirtz. I'm not surprised the Wirtz situation is taking more time and energy, especially considering not only the cost but also that Leverkusen want a player in return. Hopefully we can get it over the hump by the end of the weekend.

They're covering his summer wages too.

Is the payout for the CWC so high that's worth it financially?

Or is Real just reeling from not winning anything this year?

Edit- Ah. $125 million for the winner? That's just silly.

I think both. And they want to sell a bunch of Trent shirts this summer.

Nunez is going, Kelleher is going, probably Harvey. Saw new Saudi rumors this morning about Diaz but I bet he stays unless we sign a replacement. Tsimikas is gone I reckon.

It's been thrown around that they like Harvey Elliott, and he would basically replace Wirtz 1 for 1 in that team, but idk if Liverpool would be interested in including him. They might prefer to try and shop him. We'll see. Fabrizo Romano reported that they total package being offered for Wirtz right now if about 130, but we don't really know if that includes anyone or not.

Kelleher off to join the Bees. Sorry to see him go, but I get him wanting more PT and at least we got something for him.

I think we're about to see quite a few outgoings. Sounds like Luis Diaz to Al Hilal or Barcelona is almost definitive as long as they can get about 75MM. Harvey Elliott is also going to be headed out the door, if not to Leverkusen in the Wirtz deal, to someone after that. Darwin Nunez, Tsimikas and Quansah are also likely gone as well.

I'd really love to get the Wirtz deal done in the next couple of days, but massive deals like this with a ton of levers and moving parts take real time to negotiate and paper up.

Diaz leaving also brings up another need for a winger. I know we have Rio Ngumoha who is an all-world, generational talent who looks like he could factor into this team sooner rather than later (he's still only 16, but turns 17 before the start of next season), but I'd think they want a more senior winger and maybe someone who could play either wing. Nico Williams and Anthony Gordon are two guys I thought of first, but I don't know if you are signing either of them to be depth options at probably 50 or more million.

The Ibou rumors seem to continue as well. PSG and Real Madrid both interested. I know he wants a new deal, but I dont have much insight into the wages he wants vs what Liverpool is willing to give.

It could force a tough decision though. Ibou would be crucial to a title defense and a CL run this year, but if you arent sure if he can be signed then can you risk losing another big player on a free transfer?
Tksymm7

I think he wants 200k+ per week, which when you consider what Salah and VVD are getting paid, that doesn't sound too bad, but I don't think they pay a ton of guys over 200K. TAA was I think, but I think that was it. Everyone else was definitely under 200K. Liverpool are the best run financial team maybe in Europe, so they know a thing or two.

I think Ibou is just leveraging what he can to get paid what he wants. We'll see what Liverpool want to do. We really cannot afford to lose a player of his caliber and at that position this offseason, imo. The grocery list of needs gets pretty long if you send him out the door even for a nice profit. And idk who you get to replace him. Marc Guehi perpahps?

ETA: If Diaz goes, maybe you just turn Darwin Nunez into a full-time winger. A position I have always thought he was better at.

Losing Ibou would be a disaster. He is easily one of the top CBs in the EPL and replacing him with a similar caliber player would cost a fortune. I think the man deserves to get paid based upon his abilities and Liverpool would be foolish to play hardball here. VVD and Salah were happy to run their contracts down and resign with Liverpool, but I doubt Ibou will give them the same courtesy. Every top club in the world will be knocking at his door. He basically played two positions at the same time last year covering for TAA.

To me, this is one of the biggest priorities at the club. They can't let great players in their prime leave.

Liverpools 130 MM Euro bid for Wirtz was rejected by Leverkusen. They still sound positive, but not ideal. Leverkusen wants 150. I think they'll meet at 140, but Liverpool need to not sleep until this is across the line if they really want to spend that type of money. They can't whiff on another transfer.

IMO Ibou lost some leverage with Real buying Huijsen. I'm sure his team's threat has been to pull a Trent and go for free when his contract expires.

Liverpool have to get Wirtz over the line in the next day or two. I'm an attorney in the corporate transactions space, so I understand that deals this massive with a lot of moving parts take time, but I think the longer this plays out the more antsy and uncomfortable Wirtz is going to get. Clubs have already begun looking elsewhere for lesser guys like him, so the likely hood that he'll have other suitors is incredibly small. Bayern are maybe the only other, and I don't think Leverkusen want to sell in the Bundesliga. Liverpool need to buck-up and hand Leverkusen the 5MM or so they are apart on and be done with it. You're Liverpool effing football club. You are a top five, maybe even top 3 brand in the world. 5MM is couch change in the grand scheme of things.

It's so clear that our player pool is paper thin, and on top of that Poch has us trying to play like Man City from back to front without prime KDB, Rodri, Dias, and Gundogan.

So now that the Frimpong deal is done done, the Wirtz deal will officially be done in short order, and Kerkez feels inevitable, how do we think Liverpool are going to lineup next season? Wirtz as a false 9, out and out 10 playing a bit more on the left side, Frimpong and Kerkez both starting playing true wingbacks and Gravenberch dropping between VVD and Konate to form a back three in attack? There's a lot of options now, some better than others.

Might have an issue with homegrown rule if Harvey and quansah and Joe Gomez all leave.
Tksymm7

I see absolutely no chance both Gomez and Quansah are leaving this offseason. Maybe one, but not both. We need numbers at the end of the day. And also Frimpong counts as a homegrown player because of the time he spent in City's academy.

Wirtz officially done. 100 million pounds + 16 in add ons Not quite the British record, but could be if all add ons are met. That said, if we meet those add-ons the fee will be peanuts considering we would have won the CL.

Huge day for LFC. We signed one of the 5 best players on the planet.
