Disagree. This is a common theme for Liverpool this year. When we score, we basically lay off the opponent and pack our own box. At the same time, our wings don't put any pressure on the ball and the opposition gets a relatively easy cross into the box.

We need serious help at so many places. We scored on an worldie free kick and that was it. And we need CL to help fund and attract the players we need. We are 4-6 points out of 5th and 6th to teams that are better than us. This loss was killer as we have/had no room for error. But it may not make a difference in the end. We are what we are, a team fighting to be in top 10 more than top 5 almost.

Need to decide on the coach as well. Nothing easy here.

I don't disagree that it's been an issue under slot this season. I just disagree that that's what happened today in the context of that game and the opponent. We score a worldy to go up with 20 minutes left and for city the title is literally on the line. They were always going to come after us and put pressure on us. We were dealing with it well until a deflection put it in a dangerous spot and they scored. Against the bottom half teams we drew against I don't disagree that we have been a fragile mess, but I don't think that's what happened today.

We also continue to be plagued but complete head loss errors by our best players that have lead directly to losses. It is what it is this season at this point. We are playing a lot better overall and I think we'll win quite a few games down the stretch, but I'm not sure it'll matter. FSG and the front office can't get gun shy now. This team is half baked and needs another 3/4 players over the summer whether we are in the CL or not.

I just don't know how much I blame Slot anymore. Yeah, he's the manager and the buck stops with him in a lot of instances, and there's been times where I have thought he was the issue, but we're just SO dang depleted as a roster. Either from injuries or poor planning from the front office, we are just so far off it from a talent and depth perspective I am not even sure what Klopp could get out of this group (and I genuinely mean that).

The stretch to end the season at least gives us a change to nick points off the teams ahead of us. Not all is lost, especially if they can continue to play like they did against Newcastle and the second half against City, but they have their work cut out for them.

Anything less than full points will surely cost Slot his job. Three of the next four occupy spots 17-20 on the table. We HAVE to take advantage. Chelsea don't look all that strong so I think they are very gettable. Man U look different under Carrick but hopefully the new manager shine wears off soon (or maybe stays just long enough to get him the job a la Ole Gunnar Solskjaer). We should continue to do well in the CL (as all English teams except maybe Newcastle) which should make top 5 the CL spots.

Agreed. I see it like yes we put ourselves in decent sized hole, but it's not untenable and I think we still control a lot of our own destiny to an extent.

Reddit post I saw on the fortress Anfield used to be. Since the start of the 21/22 season through the end of the 24/25 season, we had a TOTAL of 7 losses at Anfield in all competitions. This season, we have 5 losses at home already. Saw an article that Slot hasn't quite lost the support of the Kop, but man he sure is close.

There was a period under Klopp when Liverpool went 68 games without defeat at Anfield, April 2017 to January 2021 when we lost to Burnley of all teams. We conceded a controversial late penalty that I believe Ashley Barnes converted.

I'm basically certain the decision has already been made on Slot. He's out at the end of the season regardless. He's out earlier than that if form doesn't pick up and we get knocked out of CL. LFC would prefer him to finish the season, but absolutely need the CL for the offseason plans. I'm even seeing smoke that Slot would "leave by mutual consent" to protect his image and control the narrative for future gigs. I really, really think Xabi will be our next manager. Sacking Slot during the season is tough because the interim coach (possibly Stevie G) would want a shot at full time manager. That makes it sticky for LFC and Xabi A would prefer to take over at the end of the season. Just sharing what I've been seeing recently. These aren't just one off wishful thinking tweets by some randos either.

We definitely are. However, I wonder if the softness is a sort of facade for what I think is the real issue which is squad depth due to injuries or poor roster management (by both Slot and the front office)? One of the reasons I think we are "soft" is because when we get up 1-0 or 2-0, or are tied 1-1 past the 60-70th minute, we have basically no one to bring on outside of Curtis Jones that could make an impact in a game. Sure, Slot could bring on Chiesa/Rio more often, but I don't think those guys are making that much of a difference in this team at this point. Rio being young and Chiesa I just don't think is really good enough. I just don't think our roster/bench is one that is going to make a ton of difference in a game once the starting 11 hits their wall.

This one I think is what's going to be the final nail in his coffin. Refusal to play younger players and give them any sort of real chance. Rio is stuck to making cameo appearances only if we're chasing the game and even then he gets, at most, 10ish mins. Trey Nyoni has played maybe 180 mins this season. Calvin Ramsay is an actual RB that we could use instead of playing Curtis Jones/Endo at RB today. But Slot refuses to show any commitment to the Academy, which is a staple of Liverpool FC. Tyler Morton basically said as much recently in an interview since he is thriving in France. Said the manager just doesn't trust them and so he accepted that and decided to leave. Said it wasn't about ability. If I'm a young player at Liverpool, I am looking for an Anfield exit. Or if I'm a young player about to sign for a club/club's academy, I'm not considering Liverpool an option.
