Growing feeling that Sesko will be headed to Man United with the increased offer they submitted. Big blow to the Isak sweep stakes imo. I really believe that them landing or not landing Sesko was/is the deciding factor on selling or not. Also makes me wonder if they're going to sell Nunez or not...because I think they need at minimum four experienced/senior level players in attack to go along with some younger guys. They'll need five if they decide to not put Rio in the squad. Pretty huge couple of weeks coming down the pike, especially including CB.

Nunez to Al Hilal almost complete for 53m pounds. Need Isak now lol.

They are making Isak get his treatment/training separate from the rest of the team. I think Newcastle is still selling.

My rest of transfer window prediction:

Isak in
Leoni in
Harvey out
Chiesa out
Robbo stays
Tsimi stays
Doak stays

Honesty kinda makes me sad. The further we got into preseason the more I was hoping we'd just hold onto him so he could be the backup No 9. I just don't see the Isak thing happening now that Sesko is leaving for United.

I have no clue how they are going to handle the end of the window now. With Nunez out you only have three legit senior team, experienced true options who play on the front line with Salah, Gakpo and Ekitike, however I think we should include Wirtz here as well because it looks like he's going to be playing almost a shadow striker false 9 even with Ekitike on the field, so lets call it four and with Rio five. IF they get Isak that makes six, but doubt it happens.

Perhaps they keep Rio and Doak as sixth and seventh options up front who make appearances in cups and substitutions. But I would be shocked if they are counting on Rio to be a first off the bench guy.

With the Nunez sale, we are approaching 200 million Euros in sales. Harvey should put them over the top when it gets done. Absolutely crazy number relative to the quality of players sold. Several buy back and sell on clauses in there too.

If Sesko goes to United, it sounds like Newcastle will go after Nicolas Jackson. I think with the sale of Darwin, Liverpool have assurances of getting Isak. The writing is on the wall with reports of him training by himself. Only a matter of time now.

As I think I have well established in this thread, I am Harvey Elliott's biggest fan and my heart hope he stays. But it sounds like RB Leipzig would really like him. Which would, honestly, be a great developmental move for him as he should play regularly in that side. Rumours are 40M GBP with a buy back clause or 50M without one. I hope they pay the 40M and we have the option to get him back in 2 seasons once Salah is finally phased out.

I predict:
  • Joe Gomez STAYS
  • Ibrahima Konate STAYS (with a contract signed soon pleeeease!!)
  • Darwin Nunez OUT
  • Fede Chiesa OUT
  • Harvey Elliott OUT
  • Kostas Tsimikas STAYS (could also see him OUT, so this one's a toss up for me)
  • Robbo STAYS
  • Trey Nyoni STAYS
  • Stefan Bajcetic LOANED
  • Rhys Williams OUT or LOANED (whichever comes first)
  • Calvin Ramsey OUT or LOANED (whichever comes first)
  • Ben Doak STAYS or LOANED (depending on Slot's feelings)
  • Rio Ngumoha STAYS or LOANED (depending on Slot's feelings)
  • Giovanni Leoni OUT
  • Marc Guehi IN
  • Alexander Isak IN

Only place I disagree is on Guehi. Sounds like he is content to stay at Palace and get guaranteed playing time in a World Cup year. I think we get him on a free next summer. Maybe January would be an option too depending on how each club starts, injuries, etc.

Tend to agree here on Guehi, and Palace aren't moving off of their 50+ million dollar number. I think we'll be getting another CB who's 22 and under who's ready for first team minutes but not ready to be an every game starter. Giovanni Leoni is a name that keeps popping up so that's where I would look. It's just hard to convince someone in their mid 20's in their peak to come into this team right now with VVD and Konate here because those guys are going to be on the field at almost every turn.

Liverpool pursuing Barcola for 100m Euros now, lol. That's what I get for making a prediction!

That's another possibility. Not sure what they're going to do at CB. It may be one of those "No one is saying anything and then Boom! We've signed Fabinho" type of situations. We really need another CB with how injury prone Gomez is. Even if he ends up not being VvD's heir.

Darwin to Al Hilal for 46M GBP, looks like it's happening.

Now that the Darwin Nunez sale seems to be all but settled, I wanted to step back and taking a more "bird's eye" view of our summer so far.

Liverpool's Transfer Business Summer 2025 Window :

Incomings:
- Florian Wirtz = 125M Euros (108.5 GBP)
- Hugo Ekitike = 95M Euros (82.5 GBP)
- Milos Kerkez = 47M Euros (41M GBP)
- Jeremie Frimpong = 40M Euros (35M GBP)
- Armin Pecsi = 1.78M Euros (1.5M GBP)
- Freddie Woodman = Free
TOTAL INCOMINGS = 308.78M Euros (268.5M GBP)

Outgoings:
- Luis Diaz = Luis Diaz = 70M Euros (60.75M GBP)
- Darwin Nunez = 53M Euros (46M GBP)
- Jarell Quansah = 35M Euros (30M GBP)
- Caoimhin Kelleher = 15M Euros (13M GBP)
- TAA = 10M Euros (8.5M GBP)
- Tyler Morton = 10M Euros (8.5M GBP)
- Nat Phillips = 3.5M Euros (3M GBP)
TOTAL OUTGOINGS = 196.5M Euros (169.75M GBP)

NET SPEND = 308.78M - 196.5M = 112.8M Euros (98.75 GBP)

I used numbers from Transfermarkt just to try to be somewhat consistent across the board. But is my math, right? Net Spend of ~112M Euros/99M GBP? If so, what a masterclass of a transfer window from Richard Hughes. I've also read reports that the Bayern hierarchy are a little upset about the Luis Diaz business, not bc they didn't want the player, but bc Hughes dictated business from start to finish and it was basically done all on Liverpool's terms with a sell-on clause inserted to boot.

What a summer to be a Red! We still need another CB, imo, But if we do also get Alexander Isak (which I think they have certain assurances their second bid will be accepted since they sanctioned the Darwin sale), we may look back on this window in a few years' time and say this was the pivotal window that set us up for success. (My BAS also thinks it could be the opposite and this is the summer we blew up a good team with great chemistry, but I digress).

Make no mistake, this is now 100% Arne Slot's team. He seems to be a player's manager so here's to continued success on the red side of Merseyside! YNWA!

Great post, and then when/if we sell Elliott for probably 40 million Euros we'll be under 100M net spend. Really is a great bit of business and why having a GM, Sporting Director etc. is CRITICAL in big time sports.

On your BAS; as we approach aggie football season I too can't help but feel a slight flair-up coming, but I think it'll all be fine. This summer the stars aligned for pretty significant squad turnover, not just because we spent nothing last summer, but also because we simply had some guys on the team (academy players in particular combined with their age) where it was time for them to either take that next step and boot someone out of the first team squad or move on so they could get playing time for their long term careers (Elliott, Quansah, Morton, Kelleher, etc.). I like all of those guys, Elliott most of all, but at the end of the day they had chances to lock down more consistent roles and just didn't. Mostly because the guys ahead of them are just better, but I digress.

Then they weren't going to sign Diaz again and probably just wanted to get out of the Nunez business. While we have turned over the squad a ton, I do think we still have enough of a core to overcome it. The only guys I think will be in the starting 11 that are new will be Wirtz, Ekitike and Frimpong. Everyone else will be the same as last year. Last thing I'll add is this; keeping Andy Robertson is huge for this team this year.

Sounds like Isak is officially not happening. They need to put all their energy into another CB and forward if they sell Elliott.

Not sure what's gonna happen, but don't think it's officially over yet. Lots of downplaying the Newcastle reports that they won't let him go.

I'm just kinda over this situation and want Liverpool to move on. Not because he's not awesome, but because we have other areas of the team that we need to address.

The attack has so much skill and speed now.

If Crystal can hold onto Guehi, Eze and Wharton for one more season they are going to be an absolute problem for most of the league.

CP definitely a solid squad. Honestlly look more put together and mature than us (which should be expected at this point and time)

Our backend/D going to give up a lot of goals the way we play and are constructed. Very leaky.

I think it shows that VVD hasn't played a ton this preseason. He's been sloppy and poor.

If Slot really wants the LB/RB to fly up the field, he's really going to drop a midfielder in defense and spread three out. It's going to be too easy to hit long balls on the outside if we don't.

I hate the amount of backlash Liverpool will get from this. It's a freaking preseason charity match that went straight to pens after 90 minutes.
Crispin Torque
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Eh, ignore that. It's a long season and the grind starts now. Everyone will have ups and downs.

Absolutely have to sign at least one more attacking player and one more CB.

Both wingers were atrocious and we have no quality depth at either spot. I expect Salah to gain form, but have some serious questions about how Gakpo fits. He was a ball stopper in some of the really fluid build up. All he wants to do is cut back to his right foot for a shot and defenders know it.

Very soft performance today. I'm worried the squad has the false belief they can just turn it on when they need. Lots of low energy performances, just like at the end of last year when the league was wrapped up. Slot has some serious work ahead of next week to get us up to speed.
