Kahnle in an elimination game? LOL

Said the guy watching from his couch as the team Hinch built from nothing battles for a spot in the ALCS.

Yep, I'd take Hinch again in a heartbeat, but it's never gonna happen

The game last night and the Dodgers-Phillies Game 4 are more proof the Manfred Man extra innings format sucks.

Play it straight up through 12, then run out the Manfred Man starting in the 13th.

If he hadn't jumped off Secretariat he might have a game to manage Sunday.

Think he'll let me join him on his couch to watch the ALCS?

I've got some ideas about how he can manage his pitching staff better next season. I hear AI is getting pretty smart these days

May want to run it by the commish first…I'm sure he doesn't have much room for error around benefiting from dubious technological advantages

I said the same last night. He's a stud, a horse and you managed the game like there was another game guaranteed.

Even if he gets Skubal to go just 1 more inning, you have Vest (your only reliable reliever on the team) for 8 and 9 and avoid the bridge inning with your untrustworthy relievers…which happened to be the inning that gave up the tying run.

Reading more today, Skubal was done. Sounds like he and Hinch both knew after the 5th that the 6th would be his final inning, and Skubal emptied the tank with his two fastest pitches of the night at just under 101.

Quote:

Hinch said it was an "easy decision" to take out Skubal at that point.

"After the fifth, I checked in on him how he was doing physically and emotionally, and we both knew that he had one left," Hinch said. "You know, he emptied his tank and obviously was emotional coming off the mound, and I think that signals exactly where we were in the game. He gave us everything he could."

Anyway... Go Jays! Go Brewers!

The Seamen are toast against the Jays Sunday. They killed themselves winning that DS. Kind of like the 2005 NLCS for the Astros. Beating Punols and the Cards killed the Stros for the World Series.

Say he leaves him in and he gives up two runs and they lose the game. Then all of the comments would have been "He should have pulled him seeing he was done and tired". The same thing about Hinch pulling Grienke. It sucks cause what happened next and it wasn't even on a bad pitch. But they people can say "If he would have left him in they would have a ring". The same could have happened and would have been "Should have pulled Grienke and we would have a ring".

This wasn't directed at you personally, its just fandom in general and funny how much heat these get for decisions that are made in game using the outcome of why it should not have happened.

I've been watching baseball longer than most people here so maybe my perspective is different than others. Pitching 5 or 6 innings once got you a ticket to Tucson or Indianapolis. Had he stuck with his clearly best pitcher and lost so be it.

In the case here I don't think it was pulling Greinke as much as not using Cole. And since that's game 7 of the WS you didn't need to save him for anything else.

Arguably the best pitcher in the league 2 years running looks you in the eye and verbally tells you he's done. And you're saying you're going to send him back out?

Did he say that or say it later to cover. If he's done after 9o pitches in a win or go home game yikes.

If he had nothing left in the tank, then that's also on Hinch for pulling him all year long at less than 90 pitches. Never built up his arm/stamina.

I feel dirty for saying this but I couldn't help but feel kind of good for Seattle fans last night seeing that they haven't been here in over 20 years. With that said go Blue Jays and Cubs/Brewers.

Finished at 99 on the night. Only went over 100 3 times in 2025 with 105, 103, and 102. The vast majority of his starts in 2025 were in the 85-99 pitch range.

Again, I said I thought they needed 7 out of him but he was clearly at what is routinely his limit. And according to the people that where there said he was done. Not a hill I'm wanting to die on or anything, I just don't understand how anyone can say this was 100% cut and dry.

A co-worker of mine who is a huge Mariners fan was at the game. He'd never been to a playoff game. I told him to get a ticket and go, and that he would not regret it. He grabbed a single and went. I bet he's in cloud 9 today.

Now that they've had their fun, I hope they are crushed by the Jays.

He should be able to go 110-125 pitches. People did it forever. Not sure why they can't go anymore than they do now. Hard to consider someone that can't routinely get past the 6th a real ace. That's just my old man bias I guess.
