Glad to see Rosemeyer getting included in the list. They have been my safe haven the last six months or so when Corkscrew got blown up with that Michelin star. I guess they might be crazy, too, from now on.

Is it crazy to attempt a visit to Daynes at 12:30 today!? I could swing it…
what about Corkscrew??htxag09 said:Interesting, Truth is by far my favorite spot. Now, I haven't been to most of the non-Houston places on the list. But I'd choose Truth over Pit Room and/or Pinkertons any day (I do like all of them, though).TXAG 05 said:
Still think Truth is overrated. It's really good, but every time I go there I think I should have gone to Pinkertons or Pit Room instead.
Interesting list for sure. Looks like bbq with TexMex influence is the hot trend. Can't wait to dive in to the list and plan some trips to try these places.
I'll add Hutchins BBQ to that list. Always great BBQ with great sides despite the volume of people they serve every daytsuag10 said:
Yet again, there are several in the Honorable Mentions list that I think are far better than several in the Top 50.
I'll just pick on one in particular: Louie Mueller in my opinion is a TX BBQ institution, but it's been pretty average the past couple of times I've stopped. I'm sure they get a little extra credit because of their historical status. Idk

I havent been to either in a year or so but I would never put Truth in the same planet as Corkscrew in years past
I thought Pit Room was great when I went to the OG about 4 years ago.schmendeler said:gigemJTH12 said:what about Corkscrew??htxag09 said:Interesting, Truth is by far my favorite spot. I would say that Truth is the best in Houston proper, but Corkscrew is my favorite overall.
I wasn't blown away by Pinkerton's or pit room. To be fair I've only been to either of them once. They were good, but not hype worthy for me.

Piece of cake. 8 people in line in front of me. only waited about 10 minutes. Their Jalapeño Havarti & Beefy sausages and bologna is sold out. The extra hype hasn't landed yet.
I remember I was at interstellar the last time the last came out and there wasn't a line. I imagine upcoming weekends will be a different story.
Yep, drive by every day.HTownAg98 said:CDub06 said:CDub06 said:

The lines at Intersteller have been ridiculous since they got their Michelin star.

Has Vaughn ever done a list of joints outside of Texas doing TX BBQ? As I move about the country on avg every 2-3 years there's some really good spots outside of Tx, often times run by Texas ex-pats. I've found some really solid spots in LA, central coast CA, Orange County, and now a really great spot here in Colorado Springs run by a couple from Cypress. I'd love to see them get recognition amongst the top places in TX. Maybe a BBQ roadtrip across the country kind of deal would be pretty cool.

He doesn't have a list. But he has a map. Green dots are where he's been. Red dots are places on his list he wants to try.

Actually he has done a list! Came out last year. https://www.texasmonthly.com/bbq/the-united-states-of-texas-barbecue/

Sadly, few places bother to make their own sides anymore, as purveyors such as Sysco offer mass-produced tubs at irresistibly low prices.
But the biggest change over the past five years is that the gas-burning commercial smoker is gaining ground.

The 2025 Top 50 article has the 2013, 2017, and 2021 lists linked in the first few paragraphs of the article and I encourage yall to go look back at how much the list has changed over time. I went even further back and dug up the 2008 list (See link here) and was perusing through that one. The below quote had me laughing at how much bbq has pivoted in a totally different direction after this was written.Quote:

Roegels is one of my favorites in the area, at least the Voss location.gigemJTH12 said:I thought Pit Room was great when I went to the OG about 4 years ago.schmendeler said:gigemJTH12 said:what about Corkscrew??htxag09 said:Interesting, Truth is by far my favorite spot. went to the new location the other day and was underwhelmed
A few years ago Cattle Ack was the best brisket I had tasted (sides were above average). It seems to be falling off the list but I have not been in some time.tsuag10 said:
