I just caught up with the last 2 episodes. Fantastic.

That was creepy as hell and the best horror suspense content I've seen in years. I just turned on the lights and walked around house looking for bugs. It does not help that I was tracking a roach last night in our bathroom that got away from me and now I'm terrified I'm going to wake up in the night with it on me. Doubt I'm going to sleep soon.

Two random observations:
1. I'm sure this is total coincidence, but Morrow looks damn similar to Parker from the original Alien movie.
2. The opening sound to the theme music totally reminds me of the theme music from Raised by Wolves, but it ends abruptly before it gets going. That Raised by Wolves theme is haunting and incredible for those that watched that show.

Man, that was excellent. I think through 5 episodes now - Morrow leads in screen time and deservedly so. This actor is fantastic, and I would be fine with having the 'kids' as secondary characters rather than leads.

Agree with the science officer bit - that was pretty terrible safety precautions, but after 60+ years on the ship with the same people, NOT getting laid - I suppose you tend to cut a few corners. OSHA can't hear you scream in space.

Being lazy - but wonder how many episodes we have left. Might Google or ask grok at some point today

RE: TENG. That was their Synth robot, yeah? Thought we were going to get a little more backstory why he was so weird (smoking, standing over that woman in the pod, etc) chalk it up to maybe he was malfunctioning

The lax science officer gave me zero heartburn. **** happens and people get lazy doing rote things especially when you've been confined to a tin can for 65 years. Also, stuff like this happens in real life. I would like to remind every one of a little thing called Covid. Or Chernobyl.

I did think the Alien interaction and chase scene with the Eva Mendes look alike was a bit silly. I guess we've established that these particular xenomorphs like the hunt and don't immediately stealth kill. Was still fun and didn't really detract from the show for me.

I wish it had been Eva Mendes. Her name is Richa Moorjani and I am not really a fan. I find her annoying and whiny. She was in the last season of Fargo, so I guess Noah Hawley is fond of her.

THAT'S where I knew her from.

Everyone talks about Competence Porn tv shows like House and the West Wing

I am convinced that Josh Hawley despises this genre and has created incompetence porn. Everyone is a ****ing total dip**** in this show and I love it.

That was a good episode, if not predictable when it was clear what they were doing.

Could it be related to what Morrow was saying? "How does it feel to be working for a company looking to make you outdated?" Or something to that effect.

Kirsh seems to be encouraging the downfall of these hybrids while having plausible deniability. He asked Tootles to feed the creatures on his own. He almost assuredly sabotaged the feed door of the alien that specifically feeds on what appears to be non-biological material.

Baby xenomorph is kind of cute. Is it technically Wendy's niece?

The elevator scene with Morrow and Kirsh was just the absolute best. Great writing, great acting, showed restraint, and set some foreshadowing for a future encounter between the two.

Who let Wendy be the first person to wake up Nibs? Terrible idea for many reasons.

Huge opportunity for the Boy Kavalier actor to release a Peter Pan audiobook.

We should have seen Isaac to be killed by his own experiments coming. Some believe Isaac Newton went eccentric in his late life from alchemy experiments involving Mercury. The eye is two for two with people not following protocol. Great suspenseful scene. Tootles finally lives up to his namesake in Peter Pan of having bad luck.

Two devastating "what if" questions from Wendy: "what if I don't want to leave?" and " what if you are what's wrong?"

Now we are getting into traditional Alien: a series of bad choices and mistakes leading to total chaos, exactly what Morrow wanted.

The Prodigy secure lab has cheap removable grill leading to ducting?

Godsmack!

If I were to make a guess, it just seems he has disdain for the kid boss.

Or possibly just humanity all together bc when talking to Morrow I think he mocked his human side.

How did they get my high school playlist? Seems apropos:

Sickness spilling through your eyes
Craving everything that you thought was alive
Stab me in my heart again, aw, yeah
Drag me through your wasted life, are you forever dead?

Morrowborg and Octopeye are the best things about this series. I'm really rooting for both of them to take out the annoying boy genius and crew.

I'm 100% making a playlist out of all the credits music. So good.

It seems that alien is here primarily to be a threat to synthetics/hybrids.

Which made him going into its cell even more stupid. Hmm, these things eat the same kind of stuff that I am made out of. I should go in there.

I haven't been sure whether he just wants to destroy the hybrids to keep his seat at the table, or if he's got more of a David from Prometheus attitude where he just wants to see what he can do and thinks himself superior to everyone.

He did have one of the best insults I've heard in a while when Joe was was trying to find out how to take care of Wendy when he said something to the effect of "that's like trying to teach an onion to care for a star." It reminded me of Gary Oldman in Slow Horses.

Good job on that actor making opening a door and sliding in a tray of food as awkward as possible.

Yes

More convenient writing.

If it was me. I don't even do it. But if I do it, it's fast and my body does not go into the cell. Who knew you have to walk into the cell to do it. LOL

Quad Dog, I enjoy your weekly notes...

  • They are both caged experiments in a weird way.
  • Elevator scene was money.
  • For real, what a debacle.
  • If you look, those grills are EVERYWHERE in the Prodigy facility. It will be super easy for the aliens to move around.
I also enjoyed the Boy K / Wutani meeting. This is just the start of conflict between those two.

I am also dying to know Kirsch's motivation. He is watching everything unfold. He even commented on it after viewing some security footage.

RIP, Arthur. First, your wife betrays you for Prodigy and you get fired. Then, you try to do the right thing in the lab and it leads to your own demise.

I do have a couple of questions about this episode that maybe someone can fill the gaps for me but if memory serves didn't Kirsh have the security to the lab reset earlier in the season so that only non-biological entities could get in? If that's the case how did Arthur get in with his code? Also with regard to the arbitration hearing, didn't Morrow download all the data from the ship before leaving? If so wouldn't he have had the video footage of the saboteur communicating with Boy Kavalier which Yutani could have used against him?

Good catch on both of these. Also, won't Kavalier be able to check the timestamp on the footage and realize Kirsh was aware of everything going on while they were flying back to the island? Not sure how Kirsh is going to play this
LB12Diamond

Yutani could not use that video bc it just draws more attention to her bringing illegal specimens.

And I still laugh that everyone keeps doing the same mistakes of not keeping the aliens contained.

Ripley in Alien is the only one throughout the entire franchise to ever get this one right.

You would think Arthur with his 6 degrees would have known better.

While yes, he...
-Had just been fired
-Situation with wife "complicated"
-Betrayed his (former) company and life's work to tell brother how to smuggle out Wendy
-Just found one of his "kids" dead

He definitely wasn't firing on all cylinders.

Someone mentioned above that so many shows struggle with "they always make the right decision". This show doesn't do that.
LB12Diamond
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Of course I was messing with the 6 degrees.

The better reason not to go in that cell was that half his face was melted off. Yeah, let's go in there. No danger at all even though he's already dead most likely.

Let's play a game. Who is the dumbest character or who did the dumbest thing in this series.

I'll go with medical doctor not learning his lesson after killing the captain and rushing into removing the blood bugs. That kid was pretty much already dead and not worth trying to save anyway.

The Morrow plot line so far is kind of dumb.

Steal an egg. OK
If not that. Put a human in front of the egg and hide him two days. Even dumber.

I wonder if prodigy would notice. Only way it works is if Kirch lets it happen. Very lucky Morrow.

Morrow found his family bc the dumbass gave him his real name.

As I stated a few weeks ago. Kirsh would have to let it happen.
YouBet
How long do you want to ignore this user?

I think Kirsh is actually jealous of humans and he's letting this happen out of spite or some kind of God complex like David had.

Kirsh's reaction to Wendy's weird ass brother wanting to kidnap her and his answer for doing it just so they could "live" was telling. There have been other body language and verbal indicators of this as well in earlier episodes that Ive forgotten already.

Kirsh wants to live but he's a machine and everyone ultimately still looks at him as a machine even though in his head he likely considers himself a sentient being.

I also find it interesting that the cyborg is considered more advanced than a fully, seemingly sentient synth. Or at least that is the impression I got from the elevator talk.

Poor Arthur, the one person trying to do the right thing gets to meet a face hugger.

Also, the dude whom plays Wendy's brother gives off a creeper vibe
