Atom Eins name was a clue we should have know he was a synth. Atom = Adam. Eins is German for one. Adam 1. A1

Putting all the hybrids in one cage was dumb, should have been in isolation. Also putting Wendy anywhere near a computer. How did the boy genius not build in a failsafe override into his hybrids?

Where was the rest of Morrow's infiltrtration team?

Did Wendy turn the elevator into a trap? Her messing with Boy and Dame Silvia was pretty cool. That plus her infinite range to call on a Xenomorph and control synths makes her too over powered.

Morrow vs. Kirsh showdown was kind of disappointing after their awesome encounters previously. Still have a potential "enemy of my enemy" team up for them next season.

Was jumping in the container to hide from Eyeball the smartest thing anyone has done on this show?

"Saying 'it's complicated' is what powerless people say to make doing nothing ok"

Why would the security team go inside the Alien zoo where humans have been banned for the entire show?

Finally foud out what Flora/Fauna does and it is pretty much what we pictured.

How does eyeball control a dead body with no blood flow to muscles?

Too many dumb questions that start to stack up and goes beyond the typical Alien trope of smart people making dumb decisions.

Overall I liked the show. It had everything you love from a good Alien movie. The new Aliens were a real surprise hit. Boy, Morrow ,Kirsh were all great characters and performances. The hybrids were hit or miss: interesting, funny, creepy, annoying, over powered, somehow also inconsistently underpowered. Overall I think the hybrids were good, but individually they were kind of a mess

The "we rule" with the whole of the Yutani fleet bearing down was a bit silly.

While I haven't done a full 180 on the kid/teen characters, ironically, this episode finally made me like them, or at least made them tolerable enough to follow into season two. Granted, it's absolutely insane that there's no fail safe/emergency-power-off button for them - to the point of it being one of the most distracting "plot holes" in a while - but outside of that ridiculousness, I actually really liked them coming together in the end.

Some decent action this episode too, re: the fight between Kirsh and Morrow, as brief as it was.

That said, I agree that the main alien just isn't at all scary in this setting/scenario (under Wendy's control, roaming free all over an island, in broad daylight, etc), not to mention this iteration is the most obvious man-in-a-suit ever. Literally every other alien species on the show is scarier/creepier. It also makes absolutely no sense how under-staffed and under-guarded the entire complex is, while the amount of stupidity/incompetence among the employees who are there was often a bridge too far for me.

Still, even though I would say there were only like three-and-a-half good-to-decent episodes out of eight, the finale was enough to get me to come back for season two.

Outstanding post - pale blue star for you sir!

The contrast between this xeno, seemingly blindingly fast and immune to gunfire vs. the xenos in "Aliens" who were routinely mowed down by machine guns is significant and annoying.

I was happy to see the plant alien get in on the killing. Need to go back and re-watch the scene where it creeped across the ceiling like a giant starfish.

Only paper cutters can take out Xenos in this series.

Also like how the eyeball alien used the feed door to get back in the glass box but not out.

Kirsch VS. Morrow brawl was fun.

Plant alien is more of bat/starfish with tentacle.

Wendy's xeno is not pure black, it has more camo and blends in better with the jungle.

Arthur is not the best host, I guess Mr. Eyeball is not picky.

Wendy is TOO POWERFUL. She is practically indestructible at this point.

Self-destruct elevators? What is next, sharks with frickin' laser beams?

The new Alien reminded more of an octopus the way it moved and changed colors.

So where does this season fit into the overall Alien series?

Nothing will ever top the original movie. It is bar none the greatest monster movie ever put to film. Like Nolan Ryan with his strikeouts and no-hitters, Alien can never be matched.

Alien
Aliens
Prometheus
Alien: Romulus
Alien: Earth S1
Alien: Covenant
Alien v Predator
Alien 3
Alien: Resurrection
Alien v Predator Requiem

I liked a whole lot of Alien: Earth. I loved seeing the political/corporate structure that the other movies only hinted at. The tech fit in with what we've already seen in previous movies. I do really like the idea of the synths, but their depiction largely leaves something to be desired. As noted, Wendy is far over-powered and is basically Superman, er, Supergirl. The others are all over the map. But as an idea, the synths are a welcome addition to the Alien universe. Morrow and Kirsch were by far the series' most compelling characters. Their interactions were dripping with a barely concealed tension - I half expected one or the other to step right into the other's face and say, simply, "Soon". You knew a fight was coming. When that fight finally came, it was perhaps too brief, and neither could truly be declared the victor.

The biggest problems I have with Alien: Earth is - first - the depiction of the xenomorphs as these lightning quick killers. They never did that in any previous film, not even in Aliens. They don't exist to kill in this fashion - they exist to propagate their species by bringing victims back to a hive to be used as living hosts. It's been that way ever since Kane put his face right into that open egg (dumbass behavior has been a constant in these movies, so Alien: Earth covered that pretty well as a positive takeaway). The xenos in A:E were seemingly not interested in continuing their species; they just kill. I have to wonder if the xeno killed the crab? Might we see a xeno-crab thing in season 2?

My second issue is Wendy being in control of the xenos. Perhaps this will be better explained in season 2 or some future series, as I know that ultimately this is what all of the Alien movies have been driving to - Weyland-Yutani getting a xeno that it could control to use as the ultimate bio-weapon. I've always been dubious about this, thinking that no one could ever truly control this thing, once loosed into the wild to take out an enemy, what is to stop it from coming after you kind of thinking. The scientist in Alien: Resurrection had found some level of control if I recall right (I actively hate that movie, so it's not one that I rewatch) yet they still broke free of that control to wreak their normal level of havoc.

Still, I am looking forward to where Noah Hawley takes this series.

Alien
Aliens
Alien Earth I thought they did this one well. Series are harder than movies and I liked it.
Romulus
Alien 3 This one is underrated by so many.

All the rest were average at best.

I took some umbrage with this scene. Her comment was not relevant to the situation at hand.

Hermit did do something; he stunned Nibs who is clearly unhinged and brutally murdered one of his friends for throwing her toy in the water.

Quite the disproportional response. Anyone would have done the same thing after seeing her respond that way. So, I'm not sure if this is Wendy still being too immature to understand the context of the situation, or if the message being conveyed in the show is falsely applied.

Wendy is struggling thinking everything is black/white and slowly moving towards feeling she is a god/better than everything else. (Kinda like BG)

Agree on her and her alien being too powerful etc.

The most enjoyable part of the show for me is the human, synth, hybrid, AI, cyborg dynamics going on. All with the aliens in the background forcing the story forward.

Enjoyed the season overall. Anytime Morrow was on screen I was locked in. While I did appreciate the synth / kids thread more than others - would've preferred Wendy to have an 'open line' that the Xeno occasionally responds to, rather than her commanding it.

Production level was great - Noah nailed the overall vibe. I really like the corporation & political side of it. Timmy O also very fun - but I do question the overall motives of Kirsch. Felt like that was left open-ended.

BK neither discovered Morrow's bugging of one of the hybrids nor Kirsh's betrayal (which was puzzling given Atom's absolute obedience).

Atom was remarkably clueless too. Maybe they'll explain it away with different generations/intelligence. Too funny if so that he made the better synth when he was 6, which seems a little outlandish too.

Finally finished the last episode. Would like to see a season 2 where Marcy/Wendy has to learn that life is, in fact, complicated. She's got the god complex, but would be interesting to see her laid low by having to make tough choices and sacrifices. Perfect opportunity to have Heavy Is The Crown as the credits song.

She'll probably end up sacrificing herself in some fashion after realizing she's lost her humanity - given we know synths prevail as the dominant technology and not cyborgs or synth hybrids.

I'm not sure why cyborgs fall out of fashion, but that's what they have writers for.

Finally binged this show the last week and a half. Thought it peaked in Episode 6 (The Fly) and was a slight letdown in 7 and 8. Some of the scariest sequences I can remember on TV.

After the 1-2 punch of eyeball thing in the sheep and those flies killing Isaac, I had to watch a comedy for 30 minutes because I did not want to have nightmares.

Whoever designed this thing needs to win a Emmy and then go to a mental hospital.

Since I missed the original airing, is the consensus that David the Robot let all the bad **** happen so he could foil Morrow at the end? Because for a long while it seemed like he was just sick of the Kid Cavalier and wanted to hurt him.

Finally got around to finishing and couldn't agree with this more. I think this show could kill focusing on a twisted dystopian technocratic world with these corporations competing for resources, technology and extraterrestrial life. And have the alien stuff running in the background.
