"Hee hee libs, we spent half as much and went twice as fast to have more algae than ever."

... OK....

This didn't have to be done ...

You're totally right it's much better when it can't be filled to serve the purpose.

You act as if Obama didn't spend more and fail.

The story was posted to show how great Trump is solving every problem with his "Midas" touch.

It was shown that wasn't the case and peoples final reaction is... Democratic somalis?

Was this completed in record time when previous dems couldn't even do it with forecast costs and actual costs FAR higher?

Algae bloom occurs in water thats outside (inside too if you have an environment for them). It requires treatment. It is manageable. So chill out libs... you still lost. The objective of restoring it has been accomplished as evidenced by it being full of water

Wasn't there a poster on Texags - Fish Pond Manager or something like that?

Found it. Back from 2005. Not a user, but a "source." Fish Pond Manager has become Texags legend. Trump needs to hire that guy.

$5.8 trillion in tax revenue, 8,766 hours in a year

$14MM construction cost is covered pretty quick, pocket change to the rest the budget

between $660MM to $670MM per hour

Every time money comes up on this board it seems like people say it is "pocket change" or a "rounding error". The problem is all that pocket change adds up.
Your math says it is about 1 minute (is) of federal money, but look at the real number, it is more than everyone on the site paid in taxes last year. If you are happy knowing that all your federal tax bill went to painting a pool good for you I guess.

I've been working in Montreal the last 2 days and for some reason (not shocking) Marriott doesn't seem to have the Fox News channel. So, I decided to try CNN.

That last 30 seconds. As soon as I turned it on the panel were getting off on the algae in the pool, calling it a perfect symbol for Trump's presidency.

You can't take any of those clowns seriously.

If the choice is my federal taxes last year being a portion of a coating at the bottom of a pool versus sitting on a fold-out table in Afghanistan, then the choice is easy

I read that as "I've been working in Montrose the last 2 days" and I was thinking "Damn, I knew times were hard, but that is a bit extreme!"

What's with the algae fetish ? Jeez folks it June 18th, plenty of time to get things in order for the 4th. On a second note; prior to 2012 city water was pumped into the pond. Who was President in 2012, that genius decided to start pumping water in from basically the wetlands area of the nearby river. So one would imagine that river water will have to have much more attention and chemicals to get it clear. So it costs more than city water after dump truck loads of chemicals; but the reasoning was to cut costs, but I doubt that occurred. So our savior President in reality used a cost saving spiel that didn't cut costs, the pool looked like my pond and the sad thing, he didn't even care. And if you say I'm wrong he cares, go look at that POS he just opened today. If Trump had built a library like that every lib would be busting out laughing calling it militaristic, does he think that's his fortress and so on.

So one could say for argument that Obama purposely had river water pumped in knowing it would look like s**t cause he hates 99% of this country. Yeah, I'm going to go with that and I can't wait till the next time I'm in Chicago I'll make sure I bring my Converse High Tops and see if I can get in a game at the library.

At least we will get a cool warranty claim battle out of this. Just waiting on the denial from the manufacturer due to contractors installation procedures not following the manufacturer's instructions/recommendations or chemicals used for the algae causing the adhesion failure. Also have some engineer combing through meeting notes and drawings making sure they didn't give some directive that gets their company on the hook

Above is slightly over the top for drama/entertainment purposes

Several things can be true at the same time:

- Trump DOES have a history of stiffing contractors, even the illegals (they were Irish, IIRC), on his personal projects. That has exactly zero to do with this, as it's a governmental project and not Trump, Inc.

- He got something done, but like with all govt projects, it's got some failtasticness to it. Seems like it'll be an easier fix than if nothing had been done at all.

-The constant, overabundant cheerleading of anything Trump does by some on here is just as bad as the incessant whining about anything Trump does by others.

Is it though? I'd rather cheerlead for the guy actually doing something, who puts America first, than gripe about every little thing like the libs.

These guys can't even win a war against algae.

At least it's ready for St. Patrick's next year, giving Chicago a run for it's money.

Dems sooooo desperate for a victory while ignoring the absolute failures of Obama and Biden on the same issue

Trump will fix it and their whining will disappear as fast as their *****ing about egg prices and will pretend the issue never existed

Simply pathetic that this is the kind of thing that leftists latch onto in order to claim it as some kind of victory.

They would cheer for the deaths of 10 million Americans if they thought it would let them dunk on the right and blame Trump.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

this whole thing was only a story because this little no-bid contract to a company that has worked on a Trump-owned golf course before was such corruption!!!.... got him this time!! Now, the story is still in the news and still a big deal because it has turned into an America-hating communist celebration because there's an algae bloom going on. I hope it clears up before 7/4/2026. It's pretty sick and ridiculous they are celebrating algae.

And if the roles were reversed, we definitely wouldn't be claiming some Dem libtard president was so incompetent that he couldn't manage a pool project that cost tax payers millions of dollars, right?

well the pool has been a disaster for prior presidents....so check this board for complaints about the pool during obama's years or biden's years and you'll get your answer....

I know little about pool algae, but wouldn't a dark color help absorb more sunlight and raise the temperature of the water, thus promoting faster algae growth?

Also let's say you had folks that live to get anything on Trump however far fetched it may sound.
Group of folks could drop fertilizer into pool at night and really promote growth.

last time we had a dem libtard president, we had a wide open border with about 20 million third world mass migrants waltzing in here unfettered in less than four years, we left billions of dollars in assets, dead soldiers and dead dogs in an afghan exit that legitimized some former cave dwelling barons into a full fledged country of their own, spent a trillion dollars on infrastructure that wasn't spent on infrastructure - connected no one to high speed internet and built zero EV chargers, moratoriums and bans on drilling, begging putin to make a minor incursion, another trillion in spending on "climate" and calling it "inflation reduction act" --- all of which contributed 40 year record inflation akin to another dem libtard in Jimmy Carter.

There was more than algae to celebrate.
iceman08
How long do you want to ignore this user?
So what it comes down to is, the reflecting pool has had issues for a while, and no president really has "fixed" it. So, one could assume that the whole thing needs to be rethought.... The big problem is with its own infrastructure.
