P-Wonk, the SO and I just got back from a weekend in Bend, OR, where we had Black Butte XXIII on tap! Needless to say we brought a few bottles back to Florida with us... keep in mind that there is a "best after" date of June 2012!

On tap tonight:
Three Creeks Hoodoo Voodoo IPA

Avery Dugan A

I'll be finishing with a 1 year old Sierra Nevada Grand Cru!

Have to say.. looks like vast majority of these breweries are not in texas

Firestone with 3 wins in pale ale categories. Will have to keep my eye out.
Couple of texas brews in the winning circle as well.
Also, BJ's pumkin ale takes a silver..I remember liking it last season, will have to make an effort to get to bj's soon.

BTW Pearl Jam 20, Cameron Crowe's documentary, was totally kick ass. It is on PBS on Oct. 21

Bought a sixer of Kona's Pipeline Porter yesterday. Not my favorite porter.

Looking forward to Oktoberfest in Galveston next week.

Tried Guinness' new beer, Black Lager, today.

They should have stuck with what they are good at.

How about some Christmas beer discussion? Not sure what the consensus is, but I have always been a huge fan of St. Arnold's Christmas Ale. I called up the Granbury HEB to see if they had any, and the "beer and wine" rep said they did. Lo and behold, it was Breckinridge brewery's Christmas ale. Disappointed, I grabbed a six to test out and after one of the 7.4% alc by vol brews, I'm not going to count this one out. I still want my St. A, though. (I filled out a product request form and indicated I would be willing to purchase a case of SantAs)

I also grabbed a six of Sierra Nevada's Celebration. I will try that tonight as well. Any thoughts or recommendations? And to go further out on a limb, anyone know a good place in Granbury that carries a decent variety?

I think St. Arnold's did their Christmas Ale early this year. Its been on the shelves here for at least a month. We love it.

In fact we love this time of year... by far my favorite beer season.
